lol last time it did it i was out in the middle of no wear watchign the concord pond stage for the rally. besides they weill only pay for it to tow to the closest subarua dealer so i will have to have it happen in my area wich it hasent done yet

It's just not that complex a mechanism...

slave cylinder, throw out bearing, clutch fork jumped off or jamming on the pivot, something broke and is floating around in there...

Honestly I'm pretty surprised they haven't figured it out yet. :/

get AAA and make them pay for the tow....or find someone with a AAA card as I think the card covers the person and whatever car they are in. not 100% sure though.,

I just did a bunch of reading through Google on this topic in general. Most of the problems that I came across were older vehicles, but one was as new as 2007 - it pointed to a bad release bearing.

Most of the issues pointed to the MC though, on the other results. I'm curious... does this happen with the car in the OFF position as well?

Clearly - one thing is certain. Your pedal is either A) sticking at the pivot point, randomly... or

not receiving enough pressure back from the system to return itself. If it's the pivot point, maybe something is broken/breaking or loose. If it's the pressure, it could be anything from the clutch fork not returning all the way back to the MC not getting return pressure.

When this happens, does the clutch stay disengaged? When you pull the pedal back up, does the clutch return? Is it happening when you dry-pump the pedal, with the car off?

Just some questions & more than likely obvious suggestions...

when i pull the pedal out by hand it pops out fine then acts normall. both times it has happened to me when i was driving the car. first time though the pedal went form half way depressed to ont he floor after sitting in a parkign lot for 3 hours

Did you have to pull the pedal all the way up, or did it return on it's own once you started to pull? How hard did you have to pull it?

Also, when you say "first time though the pedal went form half way depressed to ont he floor after sitting in a parkign lot for 3 hours" do you mean it sank to the floor while you were away for 3 hours, or do you mean that as soon as you touched it it sank?

I may not be quite getting this but, what happens if your going down the road say at 3-3500 rpm's and the clutch decides to engage, wont the car tack out and blow before you can get her shut down and safely off the road?[been there,no fun]or is it the the clutch pedal is going limp without effecting whats going on with the tranny?Either way it sounds very unsafe, document everything, maine has a lemon law.

If the pedal sank to the floor on its own, the problem is 100% hydraulic pressure. You have a leak somewhere... they just need to find out exactly where. It might not be an external leak, so bear in mind when you are looking for it. It could be that one of the pressure valves is sticking, and the slight amount of vacuum you are generating when pulling up on it gets it to close and do its job.

Slave or Master - or even the tubing in between... but it's gotta be hydraulic related. Pedals don't just flop to the floor on their own.

ive called 3 times now and all they say is we have run every test we can on it and cant find whats wrong and they have been trying to get it to happen again but cant so basically there is nothign they can do????
