wheel ramps suck

1st attempt at getting the Golf up on the ramps... the right one shot out behind the right wheel while the left one was pushed forward. Got the right one stuck undernieth the rocker sill which put the entire right side of the car 5" higher than it wanted to be, left side still on the ground. Had to jack up that side and fish out the ramp.

2nd attempt:

Both ramps shot forward just as I got to that point when you need to give it a lot of throttle to get up the big hump. They made an aweful noise as the metal ramps rapidly scaped across the cement 10ft from where they started. Scared the bajeezus out of Momma.

3rd attempt.

Jack and jack stands FTW!

Rhino ramps FTMFW!!

they are plastic (seems scary) and they have rubber feet so they don't move. I can get up on them with both the WRX and the Miata.

always use jack and jack stands,
can't get my jack to the jacking point under the front of the miata. so I run it up on the ramps and then put it on stands from there.

unless it is an oil change.. then I just run it up and pull the plug. (drain is at the back of the oil pan

sounds like you were using the dread El Cheapo Steel Ramps -- poo poo bad trouble as you have experienced. try putting the bottom edge of ramp on a board so the metal bites in as you drive up, and it well be less likely to do the watermelon-seed-popping-out thing.

We have a set of well-used Rhino Ramps in the LDR box truck and they are awesome. NO slippage. drive trailer up on ramp. the other wheel is dangling in mid-air, perfect for tire change. drove back of dual-wheel box truck up to change a tire, ditto. ramp angle is such that even low cars like Miotters fit without drama. etc etc

I've been using Rhino Ramps for years. Love 'em. Had 2 sets but gave one set away when we moved to ME. Used to drive the Forester up on all 4's. HA! NICE.

***El Cheap-o Wheel Ramps Forsale Sale!!! ***

They pop out like watermellon seeds!

They scare you while you're under them because they come pre-buckled!

They are EXTRA EXTRA noisy!

AND...your tires are guaranteed to slip while driving up them!

Will trade for a jack with extra wide pad so I stop crushing the underside of the Golf.
