Where has your subie gone?

So guys, I was thinking to myself today about how i would love to hear about the toughest terrain that people have taken their subies in maine.

I'll start:

1995 impreza 5spd

givens hill next to moody pond in windsor (during spring),

Climbed up the logging trails and high tension wires areas.

I was following 2 other people, one was in a 2002 dodge, and the other in a 1997 lifted jimmy.

I kept right up with them, and went farther up the mountain than they could. Awesome stuff.

Other time, same car, late winter, snow starting to thaw, took the subie down a logging trail, the only way in was a "puddle", full of ice. Running start and subie made it just fine. So very awesome.

Subys are awesome. My GL is a beast offroad!

Some pics of your car please?!

would love to see some more offroad.

used to be everywhere.. not anymore.

my last 4wd monster ride was in early 2000s..before tha gas insanity set in.

A factory 87 dl, manual steering, single range..4 sqaure headlights. A dealer removed the crazy heads with egr p[iping, it saved it for some years to come... ran so gentle it needed no coolant .. even had tiny factory cams.

had to ride the clutch more than any other sube I have owned, but the trade off for hypermiling and needing nothing for 7 years..

the crazy road I took was in dover maine, not much wider than the subaru..probably somebodys spinoff atv trail. took it over a log that rolled with the car like a roller wheel on a dyno, then up and over the hood with goop. They really can keep moving.

I kick myself for destroying a DL. they don't even have doubled engine arms lie the dual range/ GL specials.

I have figured out that the subframe rear needs attention beyond oe (even into legacy years).. other than that, they are simple to keep mig welded and strong enough.
