Where to begin?

I recently bought a 05 LGT. its auto with 90k on it. runs great. thinking I want to start doing some work on it but im not entirely sure where to start. I can do an oil change but that's pretty much the extent of my car knowledge. been doing a lot of reading on subarus, their engines, and the LGT in particular. Starting to formulate a plan for replacing some of the stock but I want to go slow as this car has to get me to work everyday. Im thinking about starting with the intake/exhaust. been looking at a cobb cold air, and a borla cat back. any suggestions/reccomendations? catback vs turboback? cold air vs short ram? where would you recommend a newbie start? Is there anything in particular about the LGT that I should keep an eye out for? lots of questions, I know, whatever you've got to share id greatly appreciate. cheers. - P -

A good place to start is to buy a Cobb AP ( access port ) You can buy used ones and check with Subarude on this site he may have one for sale.

you are wise to start slow with the mods. too many people end up turning their nice Scoobies from daily drivers to "daily tuners"

experience in learning to drive your car in all the varying conditions it's built to handle (dirt, snow, gravel, rough back roads) will pay far more dividends than wasting $$$ on mods to make the car go faster than the driver's skill may be able to handle.

please note, I'm not hacking on you personally....but there a lots of members here who will attest to the slippery slope of mods vs driver skillZ.

^^ What he said

Thanks for the feed back guys. Just got the Cobb AP. pretty wicked. the car came with brand new summer tires and I already have a set of winter tires although im going to pretend for now that they wont be necessary.

im curious about 'them popping engines'. that sounds rather menacing...
