okay so when im driving for a while like on the highway or something once i get off the ramp my car just stalls out dies, steering wheel locks up then i just turn my key and its normal it happened to me twice today both happening once i get off the highway what is going on? could my egt sensor be causing that? cuz i had the check engine light on and it read the egt sensor code anybody know?

wheel locks up like when u take out the key?? is it just an engine stall and then harder to steer due to no steering assist?

Mine did that once. Also, if I drove long distance and slowed down for a toll booth on the highway or whatever it would idle up to like 2500 rpm for whatever reason then settle back down.

Turned out to be my tune though so I had it retuned and now it is fine.

Mine does sometimes when I punch the gas then slow down real quick. Like when im in traffic and its related to tuning.

all i have is an spt catback, injen intake, and a no name bov that's it. I had my check engine light on before and it was due to an egt sensor got it cleared but i looked at the sensor and it looks like its half way sticking out and the nut looks like it got messed with before i had the car and its all rounded out im thinking the sensor should be in all the way and shouldnt be bale to see any threads but i dont know if that's the reason my car stalls out

mine silver xt did this cause of my egt sensor i was going to maryland and i look down and my cel is on and when i let off on the clutch it would either almost stall or would stall cleared the code and went on my way then 500 miles later it comes on agian and did the same thing all i did was unplugged the egt and put the cel fix resistor in place of it and haven't had a problem since

It might be that BOV, especially if its venting 100% atmospheric. That happens to GeeTees car all the time due to the atmospheric vent BOV. I would just take it off, put the stocker back on and see if it corrects the problem. It shouldnt cost you anything but a little time to do so :-)

cheers

Ps- Gabes idea has merit too! You should do that to correct you CEL

if you were at cruising throttle (and werent making boost) then let off and it stalled, the BOV shouldnt have come into play. a bov can cause problems on certain setups, but it most likely wouldnt just start causing a problem out of the blue though. i would try the EGT fix first, then see if you can borrow someones stock bov if that doesn't work.

Well I have a couple stock ones lying around but Im in Bangor, but you are more than welcome to one for beer :-) gabe might have one too.

hmm maybe ill try the cel thing cuz i dont have the stock bypass lol

Totally agree with ralli. My LGT stalls at random times too, especially if you're on an offramp and just push in the clutch and brake instead of downshifting. The ECU is expecting the BOV to put the air in the intake, not the sky. Since the factory tube is after the MAF sensor, it still thinks the airflow is there. This causes a rich condition, which, depending on many different factors, such as air temp, engine temp, and a little bit of luck, may or may not cause the engine to stall. It may almost stall, but then be fine. You may also get a hunting idle at times. My car runs much smoother with the factory bypass valve, but I like the sound

just do the egt fix which is only going to cost you like $3-4 for a pack of 5 at radio shack if you call joel at evergreen he can give you radio shacks part # for what you need

oh yeah well is the threads showing on the sensor a good thing? im thinking not i dont know if i should try and tighten it or what i dont want to mess it up but ill try the radio shack thing cuz my check engine light came back on
