I just got a wingless trunk that needs some minor body work and then a repaint (either doing black or doing a sheet of CF to match the hood)... anyone good with bodywork here and willing to work for beer?

I may try it myself but some guidance would help.

Also need tips on shaving the key hole

thanks in advance!!

heres what the trunk looked like when I got it..

I will post up pics when I'm done painting it.. I forgot to take pics of the body work I did... I straightened out that nasty crease, unfolded the corner, filled in a few of the bigger dents (not shown in the pics) and shaved the lock hole. Really didn't know what I was doing but def a great learning process with bondo and body work.

heres the after photos...

what you think?

no more huge crease...

no more bend corner...

too bad you can still see where I bondo'd dammit

unfortunately no more aspen white but whatever... the trunk was free and I only spent about $50 in supplies to fix/paint and about 2-3 hours of my time.

no safety police on this one.. i know it was in an apt and not too smart... but oh well. windows were open and had a box fan in the windows pulling the air out. only this is room is covered in black dust and im still blowing black boogers

hey, I was noticing that in all the spots I used bondo, I can see where it is through layers of primer, 6 layers of paint and 3 layers of clear... any pointers?

satin paint rather than flat? would that work?

haha. Ive sprayed inside an apartment before and it sucks! I spent way more time trying to clean that over-spray off everything than I did on the whole project!

I used to spray stuff in my old apartment all the time. Haha we had to throw out our kitchen table when we moved because it was pretty much black. Hopefully my old landlord doesn't notice the black spots on the porch too.

honestly... not too happy with it once I got it in natural light.. looks exactly what it is...spray painted.

The body damage looks good but I am going to end up getting a CF wrap for it to make it look cleaner.

on the car it looks great......from 10 feet away... what you all think?

There are the new Rotas sitting on the RCE Yellows BTW

looks fine in the pics. Can you get HD pictures posted at all?

I guess we can check it out next Wednesday if you're coming

.

I like it flat personally, but I've heard its a pain to keep clean.

The only thing I can think of is this:

If you see the color of the bondo, you need more primer or color coats

If you see the texture, obviously you needed to sand a bit more.

Not sure what your exact problem is, but I assume it's one of those two^.

I'll be at the meet and I'll keep it on so a few of you can check out my issues with it.

Thanks for the pointers!

What's going on behind your rear wheel?

Someone on NASIOC was selling sheets of black vinyl that might look pretty good and would hide all the imprefections. I wouldn't do a cf patterned vinyl, would probably look VERY rice.

that nasty yellow behind the rear wheel is the stupid clear bra stuff.. its coming off this summer..

and the CF vinyl is what is next up. Found a guy on Ebay that sells the stuff by the foot pretty cheap. 48" width X any length is under $12 per foot. I got a sample pack in the mail to decide which print I liked best.

only thing I'm nervous about with the wrap is the edges and corners... I dont want it creasing or peeling after its laid down
