The Plot Thickens
This is not a WRX it is a Hyundai Accent gl 2000 tropical sky blue, 5 speed auto (color scheme is blue, black, and red no other colors on car)
29 upgrades! I am an Industrial design major so I love redesigning things, and that’s what I did to this Hyundai accent gl for a portfolio piece. I really love this car a you will see that by reading everything I have done to it, this is a great car and I only want to sell it b/c I would like to start on another car and make that into my own. If you are looking for a car that looks great for a cheep price then this is the perfect car for you, I am sure you will love all its aftermarket features. The price if firm b/c I put a lot of work into it, and i don’t need to sell it I would just like to start on something new, if you have a car that would be worth me investing my effort into like a firebird or a classic car then I would be willing to trade. I know cars, and engines, so don’t expect to rip me off, I m looking for a car that need cosmetic work b/c that obviously what I am good at.
Exterior:
1. Eye lids (you can leave ur high beems on all the times so when racing u wont blind people and not have to worry about turning them on and off, also having highbeams on always give the effect of having HIDs witch run over $150)
2. Accent body Vynals (just extra customization that show off curves of car)
3. Front dinards (professional custom made aluminum, painted professionally with black aluminum paint so no paint chipping)
4. Blue tint Fog lights, placed where Scion tc has them (not hooked up b/c not driving car and don’t want to drain the battery)
5. Blacked out hood/half hood racing stripe (looks sweet, prevents glare)
6. Rims (don’t come with car b/c they are 4,000 new and I would want too much for them, good news is the car will be a lot faster with smaller tires on it)
7. Side wings (I invented them they are purely for looks, so it looks like there is a side kit/side skirts on it, they go in front of rear wheel)
8. Night Shade on tail lights (make them only red and black, looks so much better, lie the after market tail light, this actually matches cars color scheme better)
9. Muffler tip (I have like 5 and this was the one that looks the best, looks like the wrx 3.5”, car sound good already how it is and I didn’t want one of those annoyingly loud cars)
10. Bright Red calipers (Painted with high head caliper paint)
11. WRX wing (I pay $150 for it, then spent $400 on a professional paint job, had to buy the exact color)
12. WRX/Evo roof Spoiler (light weight, and who doesn’t want spikes on there car)
13. Parking mirror (great for parallel parking, mounted on right side mirror)
14. License plate frame (WRV it’s a surfing company pay $30 for it order offline only)
15. Rear air diffuser (off the car currently bc it started to warp a lil b/c its made of wood I took it off but u can have it if you want, just zip ties on, was on for about a month fits around muffler perfect)
16. Blue turning signals on head lights (I hate the look of orange turning signals on cars so I made them blue to match the car)
17. Windshield sticker (it’s a nice alpine sponsor sticker, I got for $45 offline, when I put it on it instantly gave the car a fresh look and I m really glad I bough it.)
Interior:
1. Mural (I did a mural of a dragon on the roof of the car, its def the most unique part of the car, and looks sweet and no other car has one, it took me hours to draw, scale up, mount and stencil, I m a design student so the graphic looks really cool)
2. X2 Blue 12” led tubes in front 2 seats (not hooked up b/c not driving car and don’t want to drain the battery)
3. Floor mats (bought aftermarket matts that fit perfect and are easyer to clean than factor carpet ones)
4. $40 worth of Stickers put everywhere over the interior (sk8, snow, surf, street racing, logos ect.)
5. Racing seats painted stripes (m3 style)
6. Blue interior overhead light (bought at pep boys for 5 bucks but I had to have it I wanted the car is as blue as possible lol)
7. Lowered center consol for more room (had to sacrifice the rear cigarette ash tray, but I don’t care b/c I don’t smoke)
8. Has a 12” earthquake sub that is hooked up, and is loud, the alpine amp is a 1400 so the wattage can actually support x2 12”, I had 2 in there originally but one blew, and I wanted the car lighter and fasted so I put in a single sub in a single sub box, I mounted it down so It wouldn’t slide around when driving fast like most sub boxes one sub is louder b/c the ampage doesn’t have to split between the two, but it will hurt the speaker if too much so If I do listen I never turn it up past halfway, I never need to, its plenty loud. Also with one speaker there is still plenty of space in the trunk I set it up so it is in the far corner. Sound system was 6xx.xx when put in but it did have the other 12”.
9. Cabin Pressure equalizer (Along with the sound system that’s in the truck, I custom turned (on a lathe) a piece that slips in a hold I opened up behind the rear seats. This is another thing u wont find on any other car. This cylindrical insert is finished nicely and looks great, I wanted the trunk and cabin to be open to each other so sound waves could escape from the trunk, thus equalizing the psi crated by the 12” speaker and sounding louder so I wouldn’t have the turn it up as much and where the speakers out.
Engine:
1. Took air restrictor off (deeper sound, better gas mileage, better excel)
2. Took grill off (for looks, and for a colder engine bay for better combustion/better performance)
3. Brand New down pipes, so have no grime so great air flow
4. I was thinking about adding a turbo if I didn’t sell car (did some research and It is possible and there is enough room in the engine bay)
The good:
1. Its an automatic, I prefer stick but it is handy for city living/commuting
2. None smoking car
3. Great gas-mileage average 30mpg
4. Low miles 59xxx miles, i am the second owner.
5. New transmission replace within the last 6xxx mile
6. New down pipes 2xxx miles old
7. New front struts (the rubber boot rips and apparently it wouldn’t pass inspection so I spent 1000 replacing it last summer) only 1xxxmiles old
8. Did not beat up the car, never floored it, always parked away form everyone in public lots, frequent washes (not dish soap)/, Simi-frequent waxes, frequent oil changes, I know a lot about cars, engines, ect. And this car will run for a long time and never had any engine trouble with it.
9. It really looks like a WRX STI, I’ve have had people sitting in the car thinking it was a wrx, it doesn’t look tuner at all.
10. I keep it under a cover if not driving it for more than 3 days
11. Not rust, no body damage, not in any accidents, engine is in perfect shape
12. Sounds great, looks great, drives great, its safe (air bags), surprisingly big trunk, small car so easy to park, handles great, fun to drive!
The Bad (this is EVERTHING so NO surprises at all, even the SMALL stuff):
1. Its an automatic, I prefer stick but it is handy for city living/commuting
2. 4 LITTLE dents total just from parking lot and stuff nothing big and obvious, none from me while I owned it it’s a 2000 so its almost9 years old so its in great shape for cars its age
3. a dent in front right fender that I popped back out and now there are racing stripes over it so you really cant tell
4. Cigarette lights doesn’t always work blows fusses sometimes but I rarely use it for my gps anyways
5. Missing 1 of 4 screws on the alternator so the car squeaks for 5 secs if u turn the wheel in a certain way, Only when u start it if it rains out And is cold next day or if u haven’t used it in a while. Its just b/c the belt isn’t tight enough
6. Rims don't come with car b/c they are $4,xxx new and i would want to much for them
Stuff that can still be done to this car but I haven’t had time or cash to do YET
1. Rear emblem replacement $10 (switch it to a wrx logo instead of Hyundai’s)
2. WRX STI world rally sticker set $70
3. Full Exhaust/turbo
AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
