WTB 15 inch rims

i currently have a 1998 legacy outback with 15" on it, and my winter tires seem to leak air for two of the rims.

they are the og 5 spoke if anyone has a couple extra for sale, or even an og 6 spoke rim would work too (i have an extra one of them)

haven't really gotten too much money right now, i just started a new job so im kinda strapped for cash, but i figured ill put this out there so i can get a feel for whos got what, then i can make my move when i have the cash

it is most likely the valve stems. either that or you have tons of crud in the bead area. unless the wheels are trashed, it is mostlikely not going to gain you anything by getting new wheels.

those OEM Suby 5-spokers are notorious for corrosion-caused air leaks. if the surface of the wheels is mottled or salty-looking, it's almost certainly corroded enough to leak.

either replace the wheels with ones less corroded, or a cheaper fix is to add inner tubes.

well i know that they are all crudded up so i would have to replace them at one point or another, its just 2 of them that leak, what the previous owner of the car did was put the winters on the alloys and summers on the steels...i would have done it the other way around. know anyone that's got an extra 6 spoke 15" that they are looking to sell?

you can repair them if you dismount the tires. sand down the bead area on the wheel and repaint (might as well do the whole wheel too)

i wouldnt even know how to do it correctly, or what kind of sandpaper to use or what not, but i might tackle it soon, then what would be a good way to paint them? since they are pretty cruddy lookin

well i want to end up switching my summer tires over to the alloys so maybe when the time comes that we can legally have studded snow tires on the road, ill just have them put the studs on the steelies and keep the summers unmounted on the alloys so i can work on em...they need a recoat bad

I use the sanding foam pads from Homedepot in the paint section something like a 200grit. then use a rustoleum primer (big can) and any of the rustoleum paint colors after that. nice light coats, let set for 15min and repeat with the color.

any color? so i could go crazy and do a black rim (on the face of the spokes) then gold or blue (where it starts to curve in and on the lip?)

do whatever. your car man.

I did the BBS wheels from my wife's GLi in satin black. it looked hot.
