No offense meant at all when I say this, but I posted this in the WTB section, not the tech help section.
But I'll explain anyway
I do not have a factory horn for this alarm. It all started when I got sick of having to look back and watch for the parking lights to assure myself that I was indeed locking my car.
Instead of installing a horn, I put a 12v Peizo buzzer there. And it was constantly making noise. Like 100% of the time. So, I checked for voltage, and the power wire has a constant 12v's. The ground wire for the horn didn't provide a full 12v ground, but it did have some. I tried hooking a regular horn to it, and it constantly made noise as well. Nothing changed when the doors were locked or unlocked.
I tried a few things, including wiring a better ground to the box, and I even tried tapping into the parking light signal wires, but wasn't really happy with the results, so I decided I could live without a chirp.
Then yesterday, remote door locks stopped working. When I used the manual switch on the door, the passenger side worked, but not the drivers. So I unplugged the wire harness from the alarm, and jumped the necessary wires together to make it work. Now, the door locks work again, properly.
So, this leads me to believe that the keyless/alarm box is bad, and not functioning properly, hence the need to buy a new one. I'd rather not put in an aftermarket unit.
I do infact appreciate the attempt to troubleshoot it for me though, but alas, I need a new box.
