WTB: EJ22

My moms 98 Impreza Outback Sport spun a bearing this morning, so she needs a new motor. I guess any phase EJ block, or a phase 2 complete motor. Needed ASAP, but for a decent price. Please let me know what you have!!!! Thanks

They were mostly still phase1 in 98.... But not all.

If the plugs go through the valve covers like on the 2.5, then it's phase2.

If the valve covers are a weird curvy shape and the plugs go right into the head, it's a phase1

I knew that was a difference, but wanted to make sure there wasn't something else I was missing. Crap. I can't remember. I do remember that the heads were slightly different than my 97 was, but I don't think they go through the valve covers, so it may very well be a phase 1

There's other small stuff, ignitor is port of the coil, no MAF, intake is a different shape, etc. But that's the major giveaway.

ive got a good 1.8 id sell pretty cheap. all the 2.2 stuff will bolt right on.

Ok this one has MAF, so it must be phase 1. How much Mikey, and what shape is it in? Will be needing a timing belt and stuff before it goes in as well

What year? What condition, how many miles, what kind of history do you know about it?

it is running. needs a rear main. I cant remember the miles. it is in a FWD legacy. rezdog owned if for a short period before I did and before that I have know idea about it. it would need the acc. from your car swapped on to it I believe tho since this is a 92

ill consider any reasonable offer I need the $ to rebuild the RS engine I blew up on sunday

there is a 95-96ish legacy at work with a 2.2 I can see if it runs if you want I think it was driven in
