    Northern Meet April 17(Pat's Pizza)

I'll have to head out by about 8pm, but if it's a normal 6pm meet that should be plenty of time to grab dinner and make it to my next thing.

legacy pops out of 5th gear

First step is to take it to a skilled subaru mechanic to figure out what exactly the issue is. Nobody can diag this for you over the internet, we can give you the common causes of this problem, but from there you've gotta do some research and/or talk to someone who has fixed these before. It...

    snow drive:):):):);)

How'd it go? I didn't get home till almost 2am last night driving down from Millanocket, it was snowing pretty hard. Roads must have been SLICK out there.

legacy pops out of 5th gear

In my case I junked the transmission because it had other issues, but I'd first make damn sure it isn't a messed up shifter bushing or trans mount causing the issue. The nut can be tightened by removing the tail section of the transmission.

legacy pops out of 5th gear

Is your shifter linkage really lose? When you're in gear, can you wiggle the shifter side to side a lot? OR... when you're cruising in 5th gear and get on/off the gas does the shifter dance foreward and backward, and eventually pop out of gear, but it doesn't do this in any other gear. If...

    Spotted!

Saw a red LGT sedan in Old Town, going toward the milford bridge at 7.30 tonight. Loud exhaust, looked like tinted windows? who's that?

Need Engine for a 2002 Forester

You can use a 2.2 from any 90's subaru if you want, too. Just put your original heads on it. That's what I always do with these new fangled sohc cars. You'd be an idiot not to replace the headgaskets on whatever new engine you get anyway, so you may as well dump your heads onto a better block...

    Crazy Electrical Issues

I had exactly Bryan's thoughts reading through that. It's either your alternator or you have a bad/intermittent ground. Since the engine runs fine I'd expect the engine ground to be fine, because the ECU will ground through that circuit, but you be grounding everything else through the ECU...

    snow drive:):):):);)

LOL yea, that was pretty funny. The GL is a bit too rusty now, so it doesn't drive anymore. The outback has boring normal people all seasons on it, so it's fun to play ken block in parking lots, but not so good for logging road stuff... Also I absolutely hate how the outback handles. It's...

    snow drive:):):):);)

Sounds sweet! I'll ride along, all seasons + snow drive will probably result in a lot of tow strap usage

    Northern Meet Friday Feb 27

Is that the NED event? I went to both January and February NEDs a couple years ago. Took the GL to one, the outback to the other. It was amazing, warm and muddy. I have a feeling it'll be quite different this year... Jealous. I did, however, break my cars at both events lol. BWW is a fun place...

    *OFFICIAL* Snow Thread

So many idiots out on the road, a few people have already crashed outside my place... If I had my GL i'd probably go hit logging roads, but my outback has boring all seasons on it. Boring all seasons = stay in when it snows...

my 05 rs needs work... humph

To be safe I always use the sti headgaskets. They're a bit pricey, around $40 each, but in the long run the extra cost of those over a cheaper brand is nothing. Personally I'd rather spend an extra few bucks on a headgasket job and not have to do it again... I just went through that. I use cheap...

    Possible Valve Tap?

How much timing? If it jumped so little it still ran well enough to drive that far, I doubt there's any damage. Couldn't have been more than a tooth, MAYBE two. One tooth off they run pretty crappy.

    Possible Valve Tap?

Both exhaust leaks and loose heat shields can sound like much more serious problems. It's probably a fairly simple problem.
