thank GOD!

as i said in the other thread, the only possible redeeming quality for the sti would be flared fenders. second to that the grill needed to go.

if that's really the new sti then it looks like they fixed both.

Seriously. You are only kidding yourself if you don't think that first 3/4 frontend shot doesn't look like a flipping ford focus with fender flares and a scoop. Its really just a "wide-body" focus with a subaru badge in the grill and a tribeca rearend grafted on. The ONLY redeming quality of this car will be its amazing motor, if subaru pulls through with it

And then I hope someone buys one and crashes it. Then sells the motor and its put in something way better looking. haha.

I'm a little bitter. sorry.

Well,I've always liked the Focus,so I'm a fan. ;D

It does resemble it quite a bit in some ways.I really hope this is close, because the flares rule.

The focus was a great car. The implementation of that chassis in the US made it what you think of it. We never got the real focus that the EU countries got.

Were there major differences in the suspension in the ZX3/ZX5 versions in the US versus Europe?

I want to drive an SVT Focus sometime.SoPoSubie loved his,and I think I would like it too.
Not really that much of a difference different spring rates and damping ratios. Different bumpers, most of the EU ones had a worse motor or were diesel. They do make a 5cyl turbo one over there now which is pretty pimping, but they're pretty few and far between. As far as USDM ones go the one I had was pretty much the best setup you could get. It was the lightest one (ZX3 with crank windows) and the 2.3L duratec that was only available in the hatch for limited states. I loved it, and stand solidly by the fact that it was faster around an auto-x course than my wrx. I had the basic bolt-ons and a full suspension (maybe my opinion will change once i do one on tires other than the RE92s...)

Anyway back to the STI...

everybody seems to be forgetting one critical fact--when it's YOU in the driver's seat of a car like that 08 STI, it doesn't matter WHAT it looks like! O0

Nigel, you and I don't always agree, but I'm with you 100% this time. Same great performance w/ some upgrades for sure, we don't know exactly what yet but my guess is the car will be incredible.

We're all forgetting that we are so used to what the current sti looks like that we are unwilling to allow the "new" sti into the "club". Wait, just like the 06 nose change we'll hate it for a while, then after a while we'll be hating the 2010 redesign, saying I wish it looked more like the 09
