2000 2.5rs Small project/getting it shiped

Drive it for awhile. It's fairly quick but nothing compared to the wrx/Sti or the legacys mike builds. get some go faster parts. It helps but nothing compared to boost.

I've read that it's expensive...

Well, depending what you mean, wheel HP, or engine HP? Big difference there.

High comp 2.5 build with cams, exhaust, porting, etc may very well push 200 crank HP.

Do tires, suspension, and brakes before power. These cars are surprisingly fun with stock power.

I agree with you that they are fun stock but I have not had a chance to drive a 2.5RS yet. I have taken a 09 wrx for a spin

suspension & driver skill whomps power in pretty much everything except drag racin.

my old 2.5RS rally car just won Rally Tennesee overall, whupped on STIs WRXes and EVos. that car runs a fairly stock 2.5 NA motor pushing out less than 200 crank hp. The big turbo car guys are constantly amazed, but they still git whupped on!

 
I agree. I loved my RS! that thing was snappy. kinda unexpectedly snappy for an NA. but I also love boost to, its and epic battle...
