Yes,Nate...that's the only way I could do it that cheap!

*most* 99's are sohc. 2000-up to present non turbos are all sohc. that was the changeover year but they werent all that way. you'll just need to ask him to read off the engine code (ej25d or ej25e i believe) or check for the shape of the timing belt cover.
and yes, i have a sohc with brand new metal headgaskets and a new goodyear timing belt for $650 in cumberland.

I know this is WAY to late, but here's hoping you still have this engine. My neighbor could use it for his 98 Outback.
