2012 Impreza

Right off the bat 2014 STI looks like a riced out Honda Civic with a hood scoop. Not that ricing is a bad thing (if it is done tastefully). Remember, it's all those cheap body kits and throw away spoilers that give USDM a bad name. At least the Japanese know how to use our parts in a politicaly correct manner. Point being. If you are going to do something; Do it right! That also goes out to you Subaru. Not that I don't like the new look but let's face it; it looks like a Civic. Nuff said!
What does? Where is this 2014 STi.

All I've seen is concept art from motortrend and another message board (ie not anything from subaru). Yes lets critique a car that hasn't been made yet.

Check out worldcarfans.com. Not sure if that is computer generated but it says it's the new design. Tell me what you think.

glad to hear I'm not the only one who cant..

saw a Cosworth Impret-Zah on there (385 hp, UK market only), is that maybe what he thought was new STI??

I don't see the problem with subaru following the market trend.

That's all this car is doing. Same as every company for the last 40,50,60.... years, their cars just followed the market and what buyers want.

Where is that going now? A smaller car, smaller engine, more fuel economy, etc.

And with this car they're gearing up to get back into the WRC, the whole basis of the WRX in the first place. I don't know how you can argue with that.

And remember guys... It's a subaru, it's not how fast it goes in a straight line. It's how fast it goes around a corner

If you want fast in a straight line get a big V8.

Tired of effort posting........

No. It is NOT the new design.

Read the captions.

http://www.worldcarfans.com/111071534963/new-subaru-wrx-coming-in-2014-as-a-completely-separate

That is the link to the article about the 2014 impreza on worldcarfans.com as mentioned above.

Here is the link to the motortrend article, which is better written:

http://www.motortrend.com/future/future_vehicles/1107_subaru_wrx_to_go_its_own_way/

In both those links, there are two images. And CLEARLY each one is cited as being CONCEPT renders AKA not what the actual car is going to look like.

2014 Subaru WRX - Concept Art

And those articles should clear up any grievances for people complaining that the 2012 impreza isn't enough of a "drivers car". No POOP it isn't. They're making a boring economy car to sell to the masses so they can stay in business to build race cars (for WRC, you know, actual real racing) which will be sold to the public as "drivers cars". I sound like a broken record AND an asshole but the facts need to be set straight.

Golf clap. This is "SMART" business people.

Well there you have it folks. Those are strictly conceptual. Note that both sites stated have different concept ideas.

Im was being serious. I just dumbed it down with smart business comment . The fact that Subaru is not only keeping the WRX, they are designing it with a purpose. (wrc) and they going to please the standard fun base (soccer moms, teachers, etc.) with a fuel efficient awd to stay up with the times and make money for the company....we as Subaru fans should feel a bit humble that they are willing to take this leap of faith and not dump the performance end altogether.

*steps off iPhone soap box*

Once again, real life trumps photos. I took a very, very brief look at the 2012 Imprezas at Evergreen. When I was picking up my WRX on Tues night, I spied the Impreza(s) on the front corner of the lot. So I drove up around and got out for a 5 minute walk around. My first impression was, LIKE! Especially the Sport. Based on looks alone. I liked the silver one. And I am not a big fan of silver. (even though I have one) Frankly, I think with the right wheels, and Rally Armor flaps, it would LOOK quite nice.

Just my opinion.
