22t dohc hybrid Shopping List

i do like my invidia setup, but i have a cheap invidia looking ebay catback in my garage if you want it for cheap.

as for the headgasket, i would go with the metal one if you can. the organic ones are the ones that infamously blow out on the EJ25's. just because it holds 30psi doesn't mean it'll hold it for more than 30K miles. its like saying you can get 500whp on a stock block sti. you can, but not for long.

subaru basically only made two thicknesses, so its just a matter of getting the right one in the right bore size. cometic gaskets are known to blow out regularly on wrx hybrids, so i wouldnt trust them on 2.2's either.

keep in mind that the larger combustion chamber of the larger heads will drop your compression ratio, that might be what that seller was talking about.

also remember that you'll need a turbo crossmember or you'll need to notch yours.

The oem gaskets that blow on the ej25d dohc n/a engine are METAL. All phase 1 EJ22 engines use a composite graphite gasket and run hundreds of thousands of miles with no failures. you cannot use the thin phase 2 gaskets on a 22t engine. Did you know the piston protrudes from the bore on a 22t at tdc? The composite graphite gaskets are the only ones thick enough to keep the piston and head from contacting. The reasons the metal HG fail on the n/a 2.5 are the black coating burns out allowing combustion to get into the water jacket. the upgraded HG's from subaru have a updated coating that isn't supposed to blow out.

I change 20 sets of 2.5 dohc headgaskets to 1 set of 2.2 sohc composite headgaskets. The composite gaskets are fine, dont use the metal ones on your motor. Trust me.

those will work, but for that price you can get some used sti yellowtop injectors that have higher flow. Also check ebay for the sr20 purpletop injectors, they usually sell cheap.

doesn't seem like an unreasonable amount to spend so maybe i'll find some sti yellows. unless of course i find a ridic deal on the nissans

mikey, would you spend 600 bucks on ej25d heads with delta ground cams and supertech springs/retainers?
