97 Outback 2.5 problems.

A friend of mine is having a few issues with his Legacy outback ej25

Its got no fire on cylinder 1 and 2.

Hes replaced coil, wires, plugs, gas filter, throttle position sensor with no luck... 

Any help would be appreciated.

Has he checked the plugs for the fuel injectors on those cylinders or has he actually taken out the plugs and checked for spark?

He said no spark on 1 or 2.  Plenty on 3 and 4 though.

Is he fimilar with which cylinder is which?  I dont see how you could have 1 working on each bank, and 1 not working ...

its waste spark. 1+2 fire at the same time as do 3+4. try the igniter.

oh I always assumed it was 1+3, 2+4 my bad

It ended up being the igniter. Mike was right Thanks Mike.. and Thanks to everyone else for the responses!
