ABS died?!?

FYI, I have blizzaks and I still think ABS sucks. Its almost like you can feel the car ready to stop and then the ABS keeps you rolling/sliding. Annoying as hell, ABS is useless in snow. There should be a sensor for weather that automatically shuts them off in snow.

you can out brake the ABS even while it is on. It is the same procedure as if you didn't have ABS. let off, get back on.

if you keep getting ABS engagement in snow, it's not an ABS problem, you're braking too hard for available grip

brake just up to threshold of ABS and you'll be good. if you just want to mash the brakes and lock em up, pull the fuse.

ABS can educate you brake foot pretty good, actually

^Bingo!

Hmm, here I was thinking about adding a swtich for ABS that would void some part of the warranty. Pull fuse.... why didn't I think of that. I always check fuses first when something stops working, I should probably start there when I want to disable something.

pulling ABS fuse works great on many cars; some newer ones with stability control, pulling ABS fuse disables something else you really need, like heater or blower fan...farkers!

Two miniature blade connectors, inline fuse holder (with same size fuse) and a switch.

plug the two blade connectors into the two sockets from the ABS fuse. attach switch to the other ends of both connectors, insert fuse.*

insta ABS switch. It will trip the light, and you will need to restart the car to regain ABS. if you were to get into an accident with this thing activated, and it were found, you would likely wind up in deeper doodoo.

^Logically. I like your disclaimer, lol. BTW where could I pick up these blade connectors, or are you just talking about the male end from a crimp on blade connector? I assume I can get an inline fuse holder at the autoparts store or radio shack right?

umm, lads...exactly how hard is it to pull fuse #8 on your fuse panel?
pull fuse, no ABS

stick it in, ABS back on
Yeah but then I need to go through all the effort of bending over to do it and stuff.

you can get the mini blades at any autoparts store. you can also snip one of the legs off the "slide under bolt" type connectors too.

Nigel. this is just way easier. Especially for the AutoX and rallyX guys. Flip a switch and you are back to normal.

Pulling the fuse would work great, but if you get in an accident, hopefully no one finds out it isn't in there and try to pull some crap and say it's your fault. I would at least put a blown one in there

I thought the same thing. And actually deliberately blew a fuse. So next time it is really snowy I can play around with and without ABS on my studded tires.

If something were to happen I don't want to get into legal crap about it.
