YOU CAN DO IT!

You're gonna die.

Pick a good day and you'll make it. The highway dries quick. Dont fart around on the back roads, save it for the aut0-xs. O0

Top down. Heater on. I was just thinking the other day how awesomely cool it would be to ride around in the winter in a miata with the top down. O0

Might need an extra heater though. On a similar note I ran azenis on my focus in the snow once, it was a seriously useless endevour, they dont like cold at all.

well I failed..

not because of the tires or the road conditions.. There is some unseen damage from the accident that has broken/bent/misaligned something. there is an aweful driveline thump (not snow in the wheels) that goes away when you get on the gas or brake hard. I think the rear subframe is twisted a bit and broke the tranny mount. but I am not even 50% sure what it is yet.

She will be towed

but it was a good effort

nah.. I will be keeping the whole thing. now if it is totaled, expect to see me in the thing at some RallyX's once I get the drivability issues straightened out.

Hopefully it isn't expensive, the fix or tow ride home.

She's a mean ole Otter. She'll be back!

well the body is back and looks great.

I found out what the banging was when I tried to drive it. the diff carrier is broken $440 part (dealer cost) and that will need new bearings, bushings, and seals. the body shop guy isn't being very helpful because he sais that he has gotten all he can out of the insurance company and has done extra work on the car (which he has).

so this sucks.. it is sitting in my parents driveway looking pretty >

I would think you could find an otter in a junkyard that still has its rear diff in.
they don't usually hit Junkyards unfortunately.

what would be a good price to you for one?
do you have one?

Mrs Pedro is calling the insurance company today. she got 3 miles from the body shop when it stopped all forward motion. The bodyshop claims that he never noticed the banging (that I mentioned to him when I had it towed there) <--see previous portion of thread

discovering what's really busted after a wreck is often an ongoing experience, grasshoppa

(take it from one who knows) :

partz sources:

miata.net classifieds sometimes have good stuff, often priced by dreamers tho

flyinmiata.com -- they have lots of used parts

is there some other mazda/hyundai that has this same part? (doubt it, but worth a try) Like hyndai accents used same 1.8 as miata for years.

pester the insurance co.

my mom got in a light rear end accident(crack on the bumper was the only evidance), one would think all was good, nope trans was pooched ins paid for a new one.
