Carbon Fiber parts, interest?

Not sure if this she be posted here, but...

I am thinking of building a few molds and making some subaru related parts in carbon fiber for my foresters, and thought if they came out half way decent, maybe I would make some stuff for you folks..?

I have been doing fiberglass off and on for over 10 years, and figured this would be an easy transition. I just need to order some carbon cloth and start with a few small pieces and see how they turn out.

Of course, there is always a chance I will ball up and ruin my first piece.. lol.

So if anyone thinks they might be interested in something like this, post it up and let me know...

nice, I looked at a VIS for the fozz and it was almost 600 bones... still don't understand how they can justify that kind of money. the majority of the $$ is in the initial mold making, then maybe $50 worth of cloth.

ive got a vis on mine...its actually fiberglass with a sheet of cf on it....you can actually see where it ends under the hood, kinda looks cheap. its staring to cloud in spots and lift near the scoop....

instead of building molds and what not why couldn't you just drape the cf over existing panels and clear??

matt then you 100% negate the reason for the CF part. You buy CF parts not just for looks but also for the insane weight drop. Which is the biggest reason to buy it.

He bought the car with it on there, so it wasn't really his bad

I know a bit about carbon fiber. You should either wet bag it or infuse it. Hand laying carbon fiber is harder than it looks and will not have the integrity of an infused piece. And diabloadsit knows what its about. Carbon is about awesome weight reduction. If you need some help I'd be happy to help you out on this message board.

yeah....came on the car....i dont think id drop 650 on a cf hood anyways for the simple fact i dont drag or auto x so the reduction of weight for a street driven car would be kinda pointless other than say a slight increase in mpg...so if not for weight reduction the only other reason would be for looks....i dont know how cf is attached, so if it was attached to a pre existing body panel that would negate the reason to build a mold, still achieve the "look" minus the weight reduction....if that rant made any sense!!!

Makes sense but carbon is not a cheap commodity, It seems to be a ricer that owned your car before you. I'm hoping that your not following in his footsteps.

im not following what your saying....what does my cars previous owner being ricey have anything to do with the question i asked?
