soho. that is cool
solar and heliospheric observatory.
I like nyc, I travelled into it many times with my father growing up in the 80s. tractor trailer rides. Container piers brought us through several "downtown" type places. new jersey side had sights of statue of liberty. The twin towers was a favorite sight, given the routine, they shined every time. It seems even worse to stereotype, as that was sincerely my first decent thought of nyc....and its gone.
even the "gw" sucked forever...and the construction...barriers so tight for two lanes of bumper to bumper, and leaning the roads...we literally smacked trailer tops with other trucks. It happened so often, we thought nothing of it.
Anyway, a brighter side to this. I inherited an old 2wd subaru, 5 speed, 1993. The last year for 3 main bearings. of course 50 cents in repairs and a sense of infinite runtime, I decided to see how far I could go with 100 dollars. lo and begold, I was in south new jersey, afte rleaving from north central maine, before I turned my way back up through eastern pa. I got to drive through nyc, and didn't stop. Cheaply, with a favorite drivetrain hardly to notice. 25 hours in all, the only thing tired was me. It is ashame they stopped that mentality for that type of car. There is no more trips like that anymore, with anything, and truly liking it for physics of loooong runtimes.
