clutch adjustment rs

Thanks!

I just found out that Subaru is going to cover the repair work even though its out of warrantee (sometimes it pays to do service thru the dealer!) My faith in the Scoobies is restored! Just hoping for no issues with the clutch assembly post repair.....

subaru is actually pretty good about covering major driveability/safety issues up to 100k miles. clutch linkage failure would qualify on both counts.

so yes, subaru dealers actually DO offer some advantages! :happy3:

yeah, i'm really relieved. I can understand a clutch linkage going at 100K +, but less than 50k? And on top of that i really don't drive it hard. I think it definelty played to my benefit that i've been religious about the service and have gotten to know the service manager pretty well - and he knows the history of the car thru the records they keep etc etc.

And its like, what caused the failure? They don't really know yet according to the ser. manager - they have to really get in there and look. I don't know if the fork in the wrx is cast or stamped - so was it a bad casting? bad slave cyl? somethign w the release bearing? or even wear against the casing like someone mentioned. I know a little about clutches but i'm no expert.....

well that is a driveline failure which is covered under your warranty untill 60k miles.

and don't really worry about the 06. I have 93,800 miles on mine and Seph has 97,000 miles on his.

it's an engineering concept known as "entropy" :occasion14:

if something can break, it will.

this concept has yet to fail in 500,000 years of human history :whip2:

i hear that......... and the serv manager said that all the stuff in the clutch assembly is only 3/36000 for the warrantee cause of the "wear and tear"

He is BSing you.

unless it is a wear part like the clutch disc, pressure plate, Throw out bearing, or pilot bushing.

if you don't replace it as part of a clutch job, it isn't a "wear item" and thus under your 60k

good to know. Thanks a lot for the info!

hey sorry i don't check the forums much anymore and i guess i never updated this thread. but yeah. my clutch fork snaped right in half. the theory is that when they replaced the clutch before i bought it they installed the fork wrong and it twisted which after a time, snap plus an up rated clutch that went catasprophic at the same time, we kept whats left just to admire the carnage.

no warrenty for this thing even though it has well under 100k warrenties don't like 10 year old cars haha.

new clutch new bearrings and fork and it drives fine with no problems.

glad to hear you got it taken care of under warrenty its an expensive job to have done, and a PITA to do.

cheers!

So i got the wagon back, and everything seems to be hunky dory. At first i thought the clutch engagement was in a different spot in the travel of the pedal, but at this point i think it was my imagination. So all appears to be well for now....

Thanks to be everbody who chimed in with info regarding this!
