that isn't a "Gas Cap Code". it is an evaporative control leak code. it can be triggered by a loose cap, or by a number of other things.

if you are using that stove sealant, your leak is not fixed correctly.

Sorry I meant to say PO457 code which means Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected - Fuel Cap Loose / Of.

And here is my other post about the leak in the exhaust. WHERE I said that I bought the correct gasket...

I have that same code. ive seen it on many other posts. so its seems like a fairly common thing for our year WRX

The vehicle has something called and EVAP system. simply put, its catches fuel fumes from the gas tank and injects them into the intake manifold to be burned, instead of letting them into the atmosphere. just more government regulated emissions crap. basically there's a vacuum pump inside the system, every now and then the car tries to pull a vacuum on the EVAP system. If it cant pull a vacuum then that signifies a leak, and throws a the P0457 code. Can be caused by any open in the system, lose gas cap is one. Also, some people fill their cars up with the car running (stupid, but people do it) if the system runs a check during that itd find a "leak"

ive also heard of the fuel filler necks actually rotting out and causing a leak on our year Impreza. check the filler neck, check the hoses all around the EVAP canister, and the canister itself. (black box under can right by filler neck)

Yeah 2 days after you ordered it you are still having a code issue. I made an assumption that you didn't have the part installed.

Now if you are having P0457 reoccurring, you need to look past your gas cap. It would mean that you have a large leak in your evap system as DC stated. But to diagnose one problem, you really should have all of your other systems in perfect order.
