Friggin' surgery again!?!?

The pain I am having now is partly from the pin that I am reacting to, but also because the bones are separating again. So removing the pin is going to help and pushing the two bones back together should help too. And this will prevent them from separating again. I sure hope it gets rid of the pain I am having now, because I wake up in the morning and before I even get out of bed and stand on my foot it throbs and has shooting pains.

There are some preventative things that you can do before having to have surgery. Have you tried those yet? The reason I had to have the surgery is because I tried some of the preventative things and they didn't help. And because I am on my feet for just about 10 hours a day at work. That was not helping my foot. Have you gone to a podiatrist for your foot?

Not yet.

Haven't done anything other than wearing boots that are loose in that area of bulbousness. Yeah, 10hrs of standing and walking. Its actually kind of gruesome

I wouldn't worry too much. If you do end up having surgery it probably won't be as bad as mine. I always seem to run into complications with everything! I guess it's uncommon for people to react to the metal in the pin...not surprised I did...I react to everything!! I guess it's also uncommon for the toe to return to the sideways state. My doctor was not sure why mine did it. He still can't seem to figure out my situation. I described my pain to him and he sounded surprised that I was having pain in the areas I described. So he's hoping that this procedure will fix my problem!

So don't worry too much Inski. The surgery probably wouldn't be too bad for you (I wish for your sake). Only the being out of work for 2 months and the pain for the first week or so. But not many people have the issues that I am...even says my doctor! So don't get too worried! It will be okay if you end up needing surgery. But I would go to see a podiatrist first. They can give you some things that you can use/try before the surgery option. They don't like to do the surgery if they don't have to. Is your toe sideways or is there just a bulg? If your toe is sideways they give you a spongy wedge to place between your toes to straighten it out...sometimes it makes it a little more comfortable. Worth a shot if it will help you avoid surgery! Just my 2 cents.
