well i took my car out to the gym today since it was so nice out i couldn't resist. well my dumb ass on the way home decides to play with a str-4 on rt4 right in frotn of lake auburn. i know there is always cops there but my dumb ass did it anyway. we both got pulled over and i got a tiket for 79 in a 55 and following to close. was over 350 for both. the thing is he didnt clock me with the radar just the guy in front but hey this is my first ticket ever so i cant complain too much

If he had the guy in front of you on radar..... he can bag you for the same speed. He can site in court: That due to his training, he was able to deduct that you were going the same speed.

State cop?

We have to be trained to judge speed and that Radar is only a tool to back up our judge of the speed. Hope for a busy day at court and it may be dropped down some so it will be cheaper.

i was in portland to get my no proof of insurance dropped (expired card, dropped thankfully) and i'd estimate 80% of the people there were for speeding and one after another there were told they will not lower the fine or speed on a ticket. basically their only hope was no one available for trial or some detail that got them off. but it was eye opening since people are always talking about getting speeding tickets reduced.

i'd still send it in kristof because there's really a 50/50 chance you won't pay it regardless of the new policy.

also adam i heard that exact explanation a few times over. it was funny to watch people's reaction to their only defense get squashed.

If you can get facts about the distance (get his report if you can) and the way he judged your speed... You may be able to get it dropped because he was paying attention to the other person as he had them on radar... If he had the time to judge your speed he had the time to radar you. Might be worth getting a lawyer and paying the $500-1000 to get it dropped or filed if it is your first to keep it off your insurance (which will raise it from 20-40% for first ticket for the next 3-5 years).

Next time don't be a tool... Sounds like it is hard for you!

well if you go to court and hope the arresting officer doesn't show up, you may get the case tossed if he doesn't

however that's only an outside chance

if officer does show up, and you choose to contest the charge, the judge will ask you one yes or no question..."were you speeding or not?" he doesn't care about stoires, he's heard every one imaginable.

if you step up and man up and take responsibility for your crime (I'm not joking this is what you'll have to do) perhaps the DA will offer you a lower fine and fewer points to save the court the time and hassle of a trial.

it was a local cop in a barely marked pick up truck. i already planned to go to court and say yes i was speeding and hope he either reduces the ticket charge or im also gonna ask if it is possible to do an alternate sentance and wich would mean maybe taking a defensive drivign course instead of the points. this is my first speeding ticket i have ever received so i hope that weighs in my favor.

stil debating wether or not to get a lawyer. i know i can go to court and ask for an alternative sentance but i figure a lawyer with the way things happened and my clean driving record might be a better option

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand that's why most of us can't afford to insure an STi

we've all done it, it just sucks finally getting caught. with it being your first you may have some luck.

It seems to be a lot of trouble for trying to get out of a ticket you was given for speeding...and if it does go to court and the cop is there, you can bet that the word racing will be used in his reasoning for stopping you and delivering the ticket. I imagine that's all a DA or judge will need to hear to make this all a waste of your time and money. Pay it. Learn from it.

well you can always take a defensive drivign course to lower points anyway, but just contest it and worst come to worst, you will end up paying less. Hell, I showed up late to mine by 1/2 hour and since it was too late to have the trial, the DA just dropped my charge by 50%.

oh yeah, contest it anyway and you will have up to 6-7 months to pay it off even if you don't plan on letting it go to court. this doesn't mean that it will be a full 6 months, but it can take up to that long.
