Gotcha, you Best Buy BEEEAAATCH!

The biggest issue that I have with Microsoft is that they have the capability to make a bare-bones, tiny OS that would allow the damn computer to do it's friggen job without occupying system resources like a friggen pig. But no... they make a overweight, useless bells & whistles OS that requires 512mb of RAM just to turn the damn PC on.
Theres a program thing .. it's called vistalite or something ... you basically REBURN a new Vista installation CD, but you can customize what actually gets installed during the installation. I'll try to find the name of it. I was going to do it, but I didn't want to reinstall, sounds like you were going to anyway. So NO to XP on a vista system? I'm not really a fan of it either.

To be hired by GS all you need to know is how to turn on a computer.
Are you sure about this? I'm pretty sure they teach that in the 30 minute training class these guys get before they hit the floor.

When I bought my Dell XPS 420, the first thing I did was create a dual boot. The easiest way to set up a dual boot is to setup the OLDER OS first and add the new OS second. I didnt feel like formating and all that BS, so I used a program to load XP and had to modify the boot.ini file for it to work. Its really not that hard. Now on start up it asks Vista or XP. Vista is my primary, I only use XP for games and software that doesn't work in Vista. Although you do need to be careful as not all new hardware is XP compatible. My sound card doesn't work in XP so I installed a second one to switch over when I need it.

They weren't lying about the drivers thing, though.

a lot of newer laptops are a complete pain in the ads to get working correctly thanks to stupid vista proprietary drivers.

there are always third party drivers out there to help you out, but they typically lack stability.

I need to call 'em up again because I see my new TV has dropped in price yet again... WOOT! Not as drastic as the $472 i got back last time I called them but hell, another $60 is fine by me.
