Grand Theft Auto 4

rugged, why would you call rockstar over it? Where'd you buy the game from? Everywhere I can think of will take a game back for same title exchange when that stuff happens.

 
I like 99% of the game.

The only thing that i don't like is that since I don't have a HDTV the map and radar are next to impossible to see along with the text in the the emails.

 
Does anyone know if there are parachutes in this game?

I had a blast base jumping in San Andreas.

 
I love how diverse of a game the GTA series is. It's not just about stealing cars, whacking people, running from the police and getting involved in prostitution rings... it's also about running around in boats, mcycles, etc., and... base jumping. There's a ton of Easter Egg's in these games...

Yeah that's what i find funny about people who are so against this game.

You don't HAVE to drive fast, run over people, shoot hookers and cops. Its up to the individual's morals while playing the game.

But yeah I've had the game since tuesday and I've done maybe 10% of the story. I mostly just explore and jump cars and cause shootouts.

 
Well, let's back up just a moment on the morality thing.

Honestly now - can you actually COMPLETE the game without shooting a hooker or cop? Seriously? Doubt it.

Not that I care, IMO.

Hdmi is how all my A/V equip is interconnected. It rules, picture is great, audio is great, and it's just one thing to plug and unplug.

Played GTAIV on a friend's 40gig PS3 last night and it was awesome, cant wait for my launch 60GB PS3 to be supported. The oddity i noticed is that with her PS3 the graphics aren't as good as on mine, it looked washed out and sort of barren like the 360 version i've seen. So you can have awesome graphics and freezing, or good graphics and playibilty. At this point I could care about the graphics. :-(

 
Are you sure it's not the TV that's causing the graphics to wash out? Unless they changed the video card from the 40GB to the 60GB, there shouldn't be any difference.

 
The whole color issue isn't related to the game but how the hardware reads the color information.

Basically its down to how the consoles interputs the information.

Not sure, I haven't completed it yet. But I haven't killed any hookers yet. A few cops but that was on purpose.

But yeah my point stands. I still don't she how a game like this is any worse than the Sopranos (emmy awards winner) or the Departed (oscar winner).

Same video card, but it seems like there's some sort of video buffering that's getting done on mine that's not getting done on hers, and perhaps that's related to the freezing. They, like M$ with the Xbox, change the hardware from revision to revision which causes problems with games.

My PS3 physically has the PS2 system built on board, whereas the new ones use software emulation. The fan in mine is actually quieter too i've noticed over the newer models. I'll just have to patiently wait for the patch to come out.

 
Bump. Got through MGS4 and finally got caught up on this. I think the game itself is great, but the story is lacking. IT just seems to take itself to seriously, and loses the humor that made the last ones great.

My other complaint is they took out some of the random, no meaning stuff like Run's parachutes. It was great having a ton of things to do that meant absolutely nothing. With 4, I've found myself just doing the story missions. I'm sure this will be changed though as they develop the engine more, just like the last ones.

Oh, and online is a hoot. Played against some NASIOC guys last night and had a blast. My PSN ID is evil_jeff, for those interested. Probably gonna do some more tonite.
