H.I.D.

mine are in projectors.
i dont really recommend anything like HID's in a non projector headlight. without the projector to aim them, you're just throwing light all over the place.

what you can get (and for way less moola) would be sylvania silverstar ultra headlight bulbs. i think you will like the extra output of light (lots whiter also)

not quite HID's but wont blind anyone either.
nah, no offense to anyone, but the sylvania silverstars are crap.

osram makes silverstars, and the next model up, the nightbreakers. both of which are very good..... however osrams do have a bad habit of burning out, too soon.

yes agreed.

had nightbreakers on the car prior to HID's they lasted.... oh.... 3 months if i was lucky.

I had 3 sets of Silverstars burn out in my old car, in the time period of 5-6 months. Never again.

There is about a million of them on ebay for dirt cheap. They all work fine in my experiance. If not they are sooo cheap just buy a new set.
They work perfect... replaced my OEM g35 ballasts with ebay set because the oem ones failed 3 times... I have had 10 sets. ONLY ONE bad ballast (out of 20 ballasts) they gave me a free one. I have 2 spares at home and tons of bulbs.

I'd stay away from the cheap eBay kits... too many horror stories about them.

Hmmm... I always thought that drawing power directly from the OEM plug was bad joojoo since it can over load it and cause a fire.
draws less power then oem bulbs... make sure you get 35 watt if 35 watt or 55 watt if 55 watt... You can get hi.lo kit which comes with a new harness and it has a relay.

i had a harness on my DDM kit and kept getting a flicker after the first 6 months. Kits are all cheap as far as i am concerned, the right way is definitely a retro or even OEM DS2 bulbs with converters. The DDMs draw a lot of power on start up which causes the flicker, a dew newer kits said they have fixed it and for a couple $$$ more it may be worth a try. Heck i might even try it if i can't find OEM stuff for cheap enough?

I know this much, i'm not running a DDM kit again (no offense Nate i hope mine were just a fluke)
the flickering is a bad wiring on your part/or not enough power/bad bulb/bad ballast. I have 2 spares if you want to check it out. ON start up the ballast and ignitor heat the bulb to op temp and that's what the flickering is on startup. OEM **** IS THE SAME STUFF>>> I HAVE TAKEN THEM BOTH APPART AND OEM FAILS!!! plus the ebay kit is way easier to work with. Plug and play for whatever you need

so are any of you running these kits without projectors? i always curse the people who have hid's in their ghetto honda's, or 15 year old lexus's. .... but im getting pretty fed up with my dim ass headlights. . .
stock sti's and g35's dont have projectors (atleast the older ones didnt) and they came with hid's. you can get a reflector housing bulb called a d2r bulb. I run the d2s because I can see way better with them.

the whole thing about scattered light is really a myth... unless it is with cheap projectors. In a oem housing like on my e36 the hid kit worked perfect and had no glare.

ebayyyyyyyy. if you REALLY want to you can get the slim ballasts, but i really think those only are needed in bikes.

Yeah ebay is the way to go. In my saab i get a front light failure every now and then but it goes away after i restart the engine. I think youll be safe with them and if they break like Nate said, they arn't that expensive. good luck and i suggest getting anywhere from 7000k to 9000k simulated hid's.
