Hey everyone new to subaru

Whoa that's quite a nice car for your first new one. I'm sure you'll get the hang of the WRX five speed. I drove a ton of five speeds before I got my subie but the WRX one was a little different...won't shift into first over like 5mph without a rev match, super stiff clutch, short first gear, etc.

I saw that car at Evergreen, so I'm pretty envious. I'm also in Lewiston. Last time I was at Evergreen I noticed that they actually sell the Mainely Subarus schwag, you just have to ask.

why on earth do you need to downshift to first above 5 mph? soon as you're rollin, 2nd pulls fine. to all who say "suby transmissions suck, they are like glass" I say, F**K that, learn to shift right."

not picking on you in particular, but this is a pet peeve of mine. suby transmissions are hella tough if u treat em right.. don't rush the 1-2 upshifts and go easy on the 2-1 downshift and they'll run 200k no sweat.

I'm not rippin on Subie transmissions. I'm just saying that if you grew up driving Hondas and VWs, the switch to Subarus takes a couple days. Theres nothin wrong with Subaru transmissions, they're just different.

thanks guy idk if there different at all lol its my first standard car so im just practing on side roads for now probly be a lot better in a week but i love the car a lot...

I learned to drive a stick while shopping for my car

. What a brilliant car for a 19 year old. If you happen to know it and don't mind sharing, could you PM me your insurance costs?

Great looking car you have there man, welcome! As soon as I bought my car I got a set of blizzaks on another set of wheels from tirerack and it made driving in the snow a lot more fun. Some members may disagree, but I wouldn't do to may mods to the car right away. Maybe a short throw, but you should learn how to drive the car as it is. Your first M/T, turbo and AWD. After driving VW, it's different that's all I'm saying.

ya i not doing anything to the car for awhile just have future plans for it and ive got some 5x100 steelies i hzd on vw vw i may get winter tires for for this car

Welcome to the forum! LGHT SBR is right, learn the car before modding it and life will be good. As far as snow tires...it's not an option...you must get snow tires. I'm a little suprised you even took delivery of your new car without snow tires. The guys at Pape were VERY much against me taking delivery of my 2011 WRX without snow tires.

Drive safe and see you on the road!

That must be the one I saw test driven while I was in for service last friday (not yesterday). Sexy exhaust note.

ya it was me last friday but they actually sold that car and got me one for monday and i picked it up wednesday...

Awesome color man, you will love it. I picked up my SWP WRX from Evergreen about a month ago and I really like it. Of course, I agree with everyone here that snow tires are essential in the winter. I had Evergreen put a set of snows on the stock wheels before I even left that day. Have fun with it and be careful until you get the hang of it.
