Hey all, I'm new to the site and just started the process of modding my 04 2.5RS out. I live in Waldoboro and like drinking beer and making 4 cylinders go fast, haha. I'm looking for some input on what I should do next. It seems my car has no balls at the moment, so I would like to do more performance wise, but I am interested to see what you all will say. I have a few exterior pics for now, will get more of the engine bay and interior soon. I hope to learn a lot from you all on here, and hope to meet some new people as well.

not easy to pump up a Suby 2.5 motor, the factory engineers have it pretty dialed to the max of what it can put out (or put out for long, anyways)

bolt on a good intake ad a freer-flow exhaust and you might pick up 10 hp. at least the car will sound sexier.

instead of throwing money at the motor, work on tires, suspension and brakes....oh yeh, and learning to drive better.

no offense meant, everybody can learn to drive better! a good driver in a slower car is always faster than a dufus in a fast car.

what kind of performance driving you interested in...autox, rallyx, ?????

 
So ya, I've done quite a bit of research, looking like a small 5 PSI or so turbo on my stock engine is about all I can get without replacing internals... Which is more than I wanna get into at the moment. I've got a damn 4EAT in it as well, which I got for a reason, to slow my hiney down. I really like the idea of a WRX swap, I want a turbo in this thing, but at a reasonable price. What would you all consider the best/easiest/cheapest swap available to me? Im thinking 04 wrx swap with a 5spd m/t. I dunno though, seen some stuff on hybrids as well. I know some of you have already done this with comparable vehicles and I am interested in what you did, and would love to see your cars.

I currently dont have my license, thanks to Waldoboro PD... Should have it back very soon though, haha, god I hate cops...

And also, I wanna know who has the silver wagon/forester who drives on 32. I was on my way home from work one night in my green 97 eclipse and you blew by me like I was standing still. You sir, owe me a hell ride, hahahaha. I had about enough time to shift into third before I saw you blow by, that day gave me a new respect for Subaru's. You musta felt damn good rippin a DSM, I know I do when I blow by them now.

So yea, I like the rally aspect of it all to be honest, why im a little hesitant to lower it. Where do you guys go for parts? Is there someone local that is capable of making this thing turbo a reality? I will need some help, I like getting my hands dirty, but I'm not the most mechanically inclined person you have met. Seems like I need to get together with you guys and drool over your rides, give me some motivation to get mine going, and yall might be able to tell me what the hell is going on with mine, seems nutless, lol.. But my cute blonde GF has been driving it, so no wonder, right?

The car already has an AEM intake, Front Strut Bar, Perrin Radiator Shroud, and some 16" Konig Zero's wrapped in Falkens.

So yeah, lets hear what you guys have for ideas, what would you do if this car was in your garage?!

LOL that was me. Welcome to the site. I have seen you few times around. I actually saw you headed south on route 1 in Warren I think yesterday morning.

If you absolutely need more power (which it sounds like maybe isn't the best idea right now

) I'd say the easiest swap is to sell the white RS and get a WRX. Swapping motors is a pretty big deal (it's doable, but be ready to Apply Money x 47) and you'd still have the autobox in there. swapping motor and trans would cost way more than just getting a WRX to start with. and when you're done, you've basically ruined the resale value of your white car. swapped/heavily modded Subarus ALWAYS sell for less on used market than stock ones...no matter what others may say.

Nice man, that thing is a weapon. I totally need a ride in that thing someday if you get a spare minute haha. Yea my girlfriend is driving the Scooby to work everyday in Thomaston, so I'm not suprised. By the sounds of it, I think I'm gonna do suspension and maybe a couple more bolt-ons, and leave this one at that. Maybe pick up a project Subaru instead... Fun fun! So yea, I wanna see that fozzy move! LOL

I started out with a 2000 RS. Sold it and bought an '02 WRX. As Nigel said, drive the RS for a while, save money for a WRX in a year, or two, or three..... The RS can be fun with a little suspension modding.

i can agree with the power of bratmans xt, on the way back from the group drive we got stuck behind a loader or something which brought us from like 60-70 to a stop, i couldn't see over a hill so was hesitant to pass but that thing just spooled up and she was gone, never saw it again!!!! your exhaust smells nice to.... welcome to the site, car looks great, sorry about the auto....you will forever be slow...crawford performance over on rs25.com has a reflash now,with mods can get you 30hp.

Yeah, the eclipse smells a bit rich lol. its running megan headers, with full catback megan exhaust, cat delete, with an intake, just a toy really. Blew the clutch and flywheel in it, so pretty much looking for a replacement for it now. That thing toasted honda's though, god I hate honda, hahahaha. Yeah, I don't think I'm really gonna be able to do much to my RS, maybe make it look a bit more eye pleasing, a new exhaust and some headers prolly. Still needs a stereo too, Subaru stereos blow

But the thing is good for a cruise anyways, if you guys get together sometime, let me know, I'd love to tag along. What would you guys do for exhaust/header combos, or what have you guys used and enjoy the sound of? I'm liking the Borla UEL's, but really unsure of what exhaust brand really brings out the boxer rumble without the PD rubbing on me.

Hunting tommorow, if I kill a deer, you guys are gonna see the most badass picture of a deer stuffed in the trunk of a Subie, gonna be epic!

And ya Bratman, anytime you wanna hook up, let me know, I'm recently unemployed, so I'm around all the time, and live right in town Waldoboro, down by the landing.

I purchased an engine from him.. waiting in a quiet neghborhood, I could hear him coming long before I saw him. hahaha.

if this is the bratman that had a 2.5 rs (it was blue, hood vents).

and that was just an n/a.. he could probably give some pointers.

If aviatior experimenters would speak up, I could guess they got a quick short list to get the bullshit out of them and power in. I got my own guesses on what to do with some of it, but cannot verify.. be good for talking only.

2.5 liters and boxer should be 200 hp.ft pounds squared up very easily.

 
Hey I live in Warren right off 131, I go to SMCC during the weeks but am home every thur. to sunday maybe ill see you driving around on weekends. And infact, does your green eclipse have a decent sized spoiler? I was in Rockland today leaving autozone going down that 2 lane towards dairy queen and saw a green eclipse with a tinted out jetta behind it and i was a car behind the two so maybe that was you? I was in an 04 blue wrx let me know. Welcome by the way!
