alright so i got an hid kit and installed it myself, everything was pretty simple plug and play but now i have to leave my switch arm on high beam for it to be low and the low for high beam, also my fog lights dont come on anymore and i use to have a CEL on and now its gone, im wondering if the kit was bad or if it has something to do with my wrx's wiring

i got a 02 wrx yeah somethings messed up the kit i got is bi-xenon so its high/low and only uses one socket to plug into the stock harness and i have it plugged into the driver side harness, well the other day i decided to stick my stock bulb into the passenger side socket which isn't being used to see what would happen and my fog lights did come on but now the headlights seemed to be stuck on highbeam even when i click it to low it just flickers

im pretty sure i didnt cross any wires it was simple plug and play male to female pieces 2 grounds and a power wire to the postive batter terminal

hmm i wonder i tried switching it to the passenger side already fogs come on but high beam is on at all times

switch the wires to the connectors... it's easy... the polarity is reveresed...

which connecters are you referring to?
The ones that go from the ballast to the oem harness... Pull them out of the plug and push them in the other way. That should fix it... Ie. put red in black and black in red spot.

subaru headlight wiring is weird in that they switch ground instead of switching hot lead to heaadlites. there have been more hassles with adding aux lites to Subies than you can imagine due to this. It makes what should be a simple job into a lotta troubleshooting after getting it wrong because you din't know you din't know this.

wtf knows what's gone wrong to yours already cheyspec? time to quit "trying this or that" and get to a professional before you really cook something important.

don't axe me how I learnt this

aight i tried that and the hid's dont even come on
Might have a bad ballast... I have a few spares. If you are in portland sometime let me know. I can show you/let you try one. I have never had a problem running them. My lego had the bi xenon hids and worked fine.

im in portland all the time when im working i have another hid kit its an h3 size for my fogs do u think i could try using the ballast from that kit to see if it works normal?

i dont really mind the way it is, just it would be nice if it was normal with the fog lights working that's why i was thinking about selling the h3 kit and deleting my fogs with some covers but if theres a way to fix this without having to purchase anything else that would be great

I don't know if this was asked already but did you disconnect you DRL's?

also where did you buy the kit from? I know a couple companies found out that the wires came crossed from the manufacturer.

^ happened to me with my DDM kit crossed wires from the factory!
that's what I told him to fix... Hopefully he tried that (he said he did).

Check to see you have a good connection at the ballasts/ good ground on the ballasts.

i haven't disconnected the drl's where is it located? so i can try that and see if that works oh and the kit i got is xentec
