There's another plug under the hood that will disable the drl's also. You can choose to unplug one or the other, Most people choose under the dash to avoid corrosion of the connector in the engine bay. You can tape it to avoid dirt/water or whatever else from getting in it but in the end it's really up to you. Either way it still only take a minute and really simple.
Since your running HID's you have to unplug it inside the car, which is cutting power to the drl's module. When you diable them from under the hood you are only disabling the resistor and will still affect the HID's.
