So my grandfather bought a brand new macbook pro a few months ago and hates it so I offered to trade him my toshiba plus a little cash and he was more then happy. Anyways I know a few of you guys are mac users and im just wondering what I should know about these things cause im lost. Any tips, tricks or cool programs are welcome. O and whats the best bittorent program and anything I need to know about pirating software that's different on a mac.

Sick, once you get used to it you will love it (or hate it, there's really no gray area with macs). no real tips or tricks, just take some time to do what you normally do, theres just a slight learning curve when you switch over. Took me maybe a week to get used to everything. If you have any questions let me know dude ill try to help.

How can you even ask about BT clients??

The best I've ever used is uTorrent by far. And last year they FINALLY came out with a beta Mac client which was first announced years ago.

Plus with uTorrent, you can turn on encryption (which I always put on "forced," especially for my legal Linux distros). Much safer with forced encryption.

Just learn to use the OS. Or install Windows. Search google or ask here for anything you can't figure out.

Imbalance, I think I'm in the gray area with Macs. I don't really like using it, but I have stopped hating it.

Yea I always used utorrent personally but I couldn't seem to make the mac version happy. Im trying trannmission but how do you make it start your client when you click download on a torrent link. It just downloads that temp file and then I have to click and open it to start the download.

Depends on the web browser... Firefox/IE, you want to press "open" or "run" instead of just "save." I forget what the option is exactly, and firefox sometimes doesn't let you "open" some files.

Well I switched back to uttorent just cause its familiar too me and im trying to keep as much stuff I recognize from windows around. Ditched safari for firefox though god safari sucks.

Chrome is great if you need just a browser, but I am cripplingly addicted to a hand full of firefox addons, thus I use FF for most browsing.

Yeah, that's the reason I can't stand Chrome ... simple is good, but it's too simple for me.

I think Firefox is still faster than Chrome, but don't quote me on that.

Not noticeably faster though. I think IE is the only browser that's different enough in speed to notice

.

chrome is faster. i also like the website completion on the address bar. something simple i think it lacks

the only time i used chrome was in class because it uses less system resources then FF and my laptop was retardidly loud when the fan came on, so using chrome quelled that from happening. But like Dan said it is just preference, i just like FF's setup and add-on's.
