Just pulled my turbo and found that the turbo might have been going. PICS!

will the 08+ fit with zero problems? Thanks stinate

by the way what you think of the pics of the turbo? What is your take?

Looks like the seals are toast to me and yea the 08 sti pump has the same fitiment but its a 11mm instead of 10mm.

lol, nothing yet. They are due to receive it today. Currently I am in Austria for 2 weeks. We are 6 hours ahead over here so I am all messed up. I hope to here from them soon but not sure it they will call just to say they recieved it. If they can dig into her and fix her up before Friday I would be happy. So anxious to here what they find.

all that oil looks like normal pcv blowby. like woody said, if all that oil was going thru the turbo, the intercooler would be full and all other pipes would have oil in them.

BMW 116i six speed manual almost brand new. Its a four banger. Not to bad. If it had a turbo it would be really nice. Have had her up to 130 mph. All legal of course. I flew into Munich so I got to ride on the Autobann so was hitting it up pretty fast coming down to Austria.

love to hear first hand autoban stories. Some years ago I was in a 123 series mercedes diesel wagon taxi headed for Munich airport, and the driver was hauling ass thru traffic. I said, "whoa! I didn't know these old things could go so fast." (sitting in back seat i couldn't see speedo) and he said in the calmest pilot's voice you can imagine, "Yah, yah, ve going almost 2 hundert kilometers"

that's about 120, in a farking beat up old diesel tax1. Yah-yah indeed!

lol, Yea I was busting about 227km or so. Right around 130 maybe lil over. Not bad for a lil 122 hp bimmer with myself guy from work who is pushing about 260 and with both of our luggage's in the rear. I think if I had prem. gas and he wasn't in the car I could get her to atleast 140mph.

Well just paid the bill to Blouch. I talked to the guy. He really didn't find anything wrong so nothing had to be replaced. While he had it I went ahead and had him to a rebuild on it with new seals and such. So there went $375 on a rebuild.

So we know its not the turbo and we know its not the PCV system.

That takes me back to either the valve guide seals or the pistons.

M&A be looking for a call sometime in the future. I will drop the call at your place we can figure out what I am going to do.

Nate I am about right there with you. Still doesn't explain why it still pulls so well and there was no oil buildup on the plugs. Plus, the good compresson but at this point there is not much left that could be the problem.

1)Rings

2)Valve Guide seals.

I am about to the point of replacing them both and ta da be done with it.

I also say, with the shear quantity of oil you have gone through that you may really wanna pull your front mount. It just HAS to have a buncha oil it in.

Done that. She is 100% clean. It is sitting on the garage floor as we speak waiting for turbo to come back. So that is another indication that the car is not blowing by that much oil. Blouch said what I found in the turbo was normal for the age of the turbo and also is normal "good" blow by amount for not having a AOS.

you're using way too much oil for it to be valve seals IMHO especially on a boosted motor. I'm going to have to agree with Nate on this one, compression numbers and oil usage don't go hand and hand you could take the oil rings completely off your pistons and still have the same comp numbers but oil use on the other hand is going to be ridiculous.
