Ken Block 2010: Win or Fail?

... in general he's a complete dink.
and exactly what is that opinion based on? have you met him in person, raced against him or what? Have met him numerous times, raced him numerous times, even out-jumped him at a rally once. For a high-energy multimillionaire high-profile all round multimedia Monster-swiggin dood, he's remarkably humble and down to earth. His video persona is totally manufactured by sponsors and video producers to sell DC shoes, Ford Fiestas and eleventy million gallons of Monster energy drinks.

that's a fail... Ford Focus fail.
Wrong car FAIL.

Yeah I forgot... But I just don't like him in general he's a complete dink.
He is a 100% stand up guy. I have met him numerous times in his rally career. He has never once been anything but a gracious and friendly competitor. I couldn't care less if you bleed blue with stars; moving to a WRC team with factory support wasn't happening in a subaru. That doesn't change who he is or the way he acts.

I hate to tell you man, this Gymkhana stuff and the Monster videos pay the bills so he can play. Even on a national stage, rally doesn't exactly pay the bills. That stuff is huge advertising $$
I understand the basics of the advertisment value of gymkhana and how even winning a rally doesn't equal what it really costs to compete...I hope that Block is seen as more of a top-notch rally competitor rather than a "stunt driver".

As for the kind of guy he is, I have met him just a few times; most recently at the 2010 NEFR just before he started the the short first stage at Sunday River Saturday morning...talked to me about his new ford as he was putting his helmet on and tightening his seatbelt! We're not best friends or anything, but he seems to appreciate his fan base, even here in Maine!

Ken is a REALLY great guy, having talked with him by the fireplace in the lobby at Sunday river after Maine Forest Rally 08. he was really laid back and easy to talk to. His wife is super sweet and i had plenty of chance to talk to her at NEFR this past summer as we were 3 cars behind her for most of the event. and near the end of day 2 we were right behind her for the last few stages.

Jealousy perhaps?

I trust Nigel's opinion on this one, i met ken once at NEFR '10

He seemed pretty cool, but i didnt gather enough intel to determine for myself weather or not i thought he was a 'complete dink'

win, how many other americans go live the dream in WRC. Too many people want the instant publicity and big money winnings and sponser *cough* nascar *cough. He did great in sweden, new car 1600cc and no more paddle shifter, never competed on snow and ice with fully studded racing tires, america series only allows street snow tires for its snowy events. He knows he needs to work on consistancy and i bet we may see him on a podium in WRC at some point this season.

"DINK" Really how old are you like 17? oh ya you are. LOL
