Legacy 2.5 GT engine questions...

her 05 LGT def handles better than my 09 wrx stock for stock.... it's just glued to the road. i'm not sure it knows what body roll is

My GF must be magic, then.

She somehow "unglued" my '05 LGT on Sebago State Park Road, on reasonably flat roads, at under 60mph, and, ahem, the body, and everything else, rolled.

What am I getting at?

I ran the LGT around an ice oval for a few hours this winter, and I determined, through research

that when you lose it in an LGT, it's easy to lose it big, and not get it back.

It's a big, heavy car, with a tank-like drive-train. When it swings wide, it's like a pendulum, seriously off kilter.

Good fun, when the only danger is a snowbank and loss of alignment.

However, on a wicked off-ramp, especially with oem tires and the less-than-stellar oem "GT" brakes, it's a b it of a Fail.

Fwiw, I don't think the "GT" label stands at all for race car.

I like it when folks add Big Brake kits to LGTs, those cars really need a serious :2468:brake upgrade, if they're to be driven seriously.

In fact, I'd hazard a guess that LGT oem brakes would catch (beautiful, sweet!) fire

if used on a track for any length of time.

If my LGT had stayed uncompressed (and I'm not unhappy, I got a sweet, complete, EJ25 out of the deal, and nobody got seriously hurt!) I would have upgraded the brake lines, and eventually, the calipers and rotors. Brakes were my biggest gripe with the LGT, in a weight vs. braking ability sorta' way.

At 6',1" I had to really work to fit comfortably, driving, in the LGT, and the passenger side, with fewer adjustments, was a drag.

I agree with the OEM tires- they are crap. But having replaced those made a huge difference. My pads are due for changing, and I think a set of Hawk HPS will help the braking tremendously.

The LGT is definitely a bigger car than the WRX, and it's easy to wag the tail in the snow. I haven't had any challenges losing it when I didn't want to, though. The trade off for all that room is a bit more mass.

FWIW- I am 6'1" as well, a 44L. The only annoyance I have is that I can't see the turn signal lights under the dash cowling due to my seat position. Other than that, it's comfy.

I also have an 05 LGT and my experience thus far has been really good.

Heated leather, moonroof and a 5spd make me pretty happy

I upgraded to Hawk pads and DBA rotors (much better than stock)

I upgraded to better all season tires

and i have 130k on it

I have replaced, sway bar bushings, front LCA rear bushings, and a timing belt otherwise she has run like a tank!

6'2" 205 and i like the fit from the drivers side but passenger leg room is a little tight, depending on my budget, when i do get rid of this car it will be for another LGT or a 335xi, no reason to buy any other car in my mind.

Thanks for the info! I'm super happy with the car, it's comfortable, powerful and keeps a smile on my face all the time! I'm tinting the windows and upgrading to slotted/drilled rotors and ceramic pads as soon as I sell my bike. Anyone wanna buy an 08 Honda CBR600RR for a good price?! haha
