Mir VS Lesnar.

Don't know if anyone is into UFC or not.. I found this at the end of an article outlining the jabber between Mir and Lesnar.... These guys have been tormenting each other for a few weeks now preparing for thier upcoming beef. I love what consumate professionals these guys are, realizing the full extent of what is going to happen shortly and being able to realize it is JUST A JOB and a way to make a living...

“Hey, Brock,” Mir said, extending a hand.

“Hey, Frank,” Lesnar said, shaking it.

They stopped, smiled and exchanged pleasantries. Mir’s wife, Jen, asked about Lesnar’s new baby boy. Lesnar returned the favor by asking about the Mirs’ 4-week old son. Jen produced a picture of the kids.

And just like that, so much for the animosity. The unsuspecting gym door was long forgotten. They’ll save the heat for the octagon on Saturday night.

“That’s nice,” Lesnar said, looking gently at the Mir family picture he held in the huge hand that he plans on punching the patriarch of the clan with on Saturday. “That’s really nice.”

Personally I have been a big fan of Mir for a while and hope he can get back to where he was prior to having his femur broken in a motorcycle accident...

Same with Lesnar, how van U not respect someone that works out the way he does... Like pro wresting as entertainment or not U have to respect this dude... he is an absolute freak of nature and amazing specimen regardless of how many gallons of horsie vitamins he uses...In addition he was given the gift of gab courtesy of the MacMahon family and the sports entertainment arena; He was able to draw Frank Mir into this game of insults that is bringing huge positive press to this event... Maybe Lesnars learned ability for showmanship, his size and god given athletic abilities will help bring UFC to a new level..especially when Lesnar survives a brutal war, gets lumped up bad, spends a night at the ER in the bed next to his opponent and people realize that his staged past with WWE is not quite the same as the thrashing he is now taking.

I am sure that Dana White the President of UFC is just thrilled to death that one of his guys can actually do something with a mic other than eating it....

I think this is a PPV I WILL B watching.....

 
yes i def want to see this fight! Mir won last time but we will see about this time. i think if it goes to the ground mir has a big advantage.....but in frank mirs interviews he seems more comfortable in stand up against lesner? ..........does anyone know of a place that is gonna be playing UCF 100 tonight in the L/A area?

 
I love MMA.

but I honestly hate the showmanship BS that it is turning into. I want to see the fight, not the guys talking about how they are going to horse rape each other.

I never liked WWE/F crap mostly because of that crap. I like UFC because of the lack of that stuff, but it is starting to invade.

I would love to see the fight. but I can't find the PPV here at the hotel.

 
when you have to cut 20 lbs like lesnar does to fight int he heavyweight division you know the guy is a beast. i play ufc undisputed on xbox all the time and i hate to fight agaisnt lesnar. The thing is he is just a human hammer not much skill to talk of just brute force. it will be interesting to see how it goes. i would kill to have the money to order the ppv tonight. anyone gettign it at there place?

 
bah... I was but the weaher and the wifes work are standing in the way as of right now.

I agree Pedro... I think this is a purists sport and the talking takes the spotlight from the actaul contest. I do however understand the marketing aspect of what they are doing and really can not blame them for wanting a larger fan/viewer base

 
wow just watched the whole fight between lesnar and mir. mir got stomped on. i love brock lesnar now by what he said after the fight " frank mir had a horseshoe shoved up his ass i pulled it out and beat him over the head with it. im gonna go home and drink a coors light because bud light wont pay me anything and i might even get on top of my wife" lmao now that's a bad ass

he is big and tough but he is also a piece of **** that doesn't deserve our respect as a champion. he is totally opposite of what the UFC stands for and the kind of champion they need to promote. SI.com already is calling Brock the Villian Champion...

great that's all we need is the WWE good guy bad guy ****. even though i know there will be no shortage of fighters for brock to beat up on. the heavyweight class is a dying breed. maybe congo could stand in there with him.. dunno.

IF dana white could pull the stick out of his ass and sign Fedor then Brock will be in trouble.

Brock is going to kill Fedor. Can't wait to see that fight. Have you seen the post fight interviews on ufc.com? Lesner apologized for being an ass after the fight. I think he is still having a hard time not being a showman when he is that amped up. I am glad he is in ufc and I believe he will settle down on the smaktalk once he gets more fights under his belt and is comfortable. All of his fights have made a living room full of guys at my place stand up and yell at the finish, win or loose. Ufc 100 was the best fight card they have had on for a while.

yeah Brock was uncool and got a weee bit adrenaline driven, he also stood right up and aknolwedged his mistake. Look at the heat he drew from it though... the boo's, the jeers... the entire reaction/interaction with the crowd. They are going to HATE Mr. Lesnar and pray for someone to dismantle him now...love it or hate it hero's and villians is awlys a combination that sells.

Tito Ortiz has been similar for many years with the UFC, he had a tremendous love/hate relationship with Dana White all the way down to saying he was refusing to work for the guy.... Funny thing is when it came contract time he and Dana were always very congenial because it was $$$$ for both of them...Look at the torment Kenny Shamrock and Titio Ortiz Dealt each other for months and how it built up the fans for a fight..

if I were Dana White the conversation would end with InternalCombusts comment of a living room full of people on thier feet.. That is exactly what anyone in the business of providing pay-per-view entertainment is looking for.

 
Lesnar didn't deserve a title shot as quick as he got it, I also don't believe he can beat Fedor. That is probably why Dana gave Lesnar a title shot so quick to try and get Fedor to go to the UFC. I think he should tell Dana to shove it up his A$$.

 
look this isn't mlb or football its not a great american past time. we dont need rolemodels in mma for our kids. thse guys get payed to beatin each others head. you dotn want some woosy up there after a win thankign his granmother for his shorts that she knitted for him. you want a bad ass mean dude that likes to bring the pain. admit it or not u love to hate him

I usually agree with you Adam on most things, but how can you say lesner didn't deserve a title shot so soon. He has destroyed everyone he has fought against. Frank Mir won their first match when Lesner left a leg out for him, but before that he was pounding the **** out of him. He crushed Hearing who is no slouch and what about Couture? If he can beat all of these top fighters he surely belongs. A little attitude will make things interesting. He does need to show more respect to other fighters after his fights. The hard line martial arts guys won't put up with disrespect like that for very long.

 
yeah ....lesnar would not B any good in the prelim fights... everyone knows him already from WWE and gheezuz he is just to big to not pay attention to..HE certainyl IS NOT a candidate for thier reality TV show and dont forget it is not like he jumped off his John Deer to do this, he is a very expereinced collegiate wreslter with years and years of practical grappling expereince.

I am also sure EVERYTHING Dana does is in an effort to promote or further his company.. if that means luring Fedor with Lesnar then so B it.. it is called marketing my friends and a business will usually thirve or die depending how its product is presented to the consumers.

I think the hardline MMAer will need to realize that his attitude will make these fights great... U think for one second a fan will watch WWE match with any enthusiasm if there hyas been no heat built up for the event. Boxer have been trying to generate pre-fight heat for a long time now at weigh in, press conferences, ect, ect.

I have competed for belts and awards in the past against people I know and had known for a long time; the enviroment was much different than what these guys face, I am sure if U offeed my $$$ I could become a lot meaner. I can tell U first hand that when gear go's on and U face off all they are is a moving heavy bag with a plan to do U in... it aint nothing but business at that point, getting hit suxx and nothing personal can B taken...

After all the best way to avoid having UR but whooped is to B the one doing the but whooping..

I think Lesnar can Take Fedor other than his lack of ring expereince, like U said he lost the first time to Mir over a careless mistake that allowed Mr to trap a limb and go to work. If brock can avoid injuries, get some great teahcers I think he will to be able to do bad things to Fedor....

 
personally i think the heavyweight division is dying breed. the lighter more agile and more talented figthers in the lower weight classes are what make the UFC a great organization. just look at the 185 class and how many REAL threats there are to belt at that weight. and then imagine anderson silva jumping up to 185!! its the best fight class in the world.

im already excited for the Machida v Silva fight.

 
yep... it is fun tio watch the big men toss thier fweight around but there aint niothing like the technical devastation of someone like GSP, BJ Penn or Anderson Silva... The lighter weight classes make for much better fights although I did enjoy seeing Kimbo get tuned up...

heh... Kimbo vs. Lesnar just to see them lumo each other up...
