RealEstate period is going down the crapper. We had total sticker shock buying a house here... the dollar doesn't go far. IIRC we were paying $1300/mo for our apartment in Portland (whch was the same cost as our mortgage & taxes back in Pittsburgh)... but buying a house here we're close to $2k/mo just in mortgage & taxes in the ghetto of SoPo.
It's retarded and makes it so that people have to either live way out in BFE or grab your ankles to live near civilization.

Brunswick is not that bad. I looked in Brunswick and Topsham close to town and the prices were about the same, just liked the house I saw in Topsham better than what I saw in brunswick at the time (675sq ft 3car garage, heloooooo) I'm so close to downtown I might as well be in brunswick ;D
and yeah Tucson, AZ $400/mo mortgage/taxes/insurance for a 900sq ft in town 2br 1ba house. sold it for 90k, looked two years ago people who bought it from me sold it for just under 200k
