MS Meet Schedule

More IDEA's of what to do not just discussing why we should have northern meets. If we have good feasible ideas it will make more sense to have a few dedicated meets in the bangor area. Like do a meet and drive finished off with a meal at a destination.

To try and make a northern(augusta/bangor) weekend meet easier why not just meet up and NOT go to a restaurant ... It could be a "brown bag" meet.. I guess more like a picnic meet.... of course it would have to be in the summer but that could work?..

we could call it the "Byobb" meet. and I don't mean "bring your own beer bub!" We could have it at a state park or something?..

Hopefully on the next group drive I can drive for a little

I'll be getting my license in June.
I wouldn't recommend it yet, you've been on a Group Drive and you know that they don't abide by the laws. You'd have to "keep up" which essentially would get you in trouble and prevent you from getting your license in June should you get stopped. Now maybe you have Auto X experience with your dad teaching you and all, but even hitting the wrong curve on the side of a mountain could lead to devastating results.

There have been many members who've offered to have camp outs/ picnics, etc. Whcih is extremely nice of them considering they do not have to offer up the comfort of their home for guests to use the restroom, relax, etc.

I really think we should do a pot luck meet for the Evergreen meet. It doesn't neccisarily mean: cook something, just pitch in with a bag of chips or bottle of soda.

I have always been a fan of getting people together on the weekend. Everyone who had complained that there were never any weekend meets - did NOT turn up to the Saturday meet I planned.

I am all for rotation. It is aggravating when there's back to back Portland meets.

I truly hope there is a Cracker Barrel meet!

so admins, can you post a yearly cycle of where we can expect the meets for each month? and then from there we can critique?

This is the past 15 months:

January 2010: South Portland/ Scarborough= Sebago Brewing Co.

February 2010: Lewiston= Gridiron

March 2010: Scarborough= Portland Pie

April 2010: Augusta= Red Robin (plus Evergreen Anniversary meet)

May 2010: South Portland= Longhorn

June 2010: Lewiston= Gridiron

July 2010: Brunswick= China Roaches

August 2010: Auburn= Heidi's

September 2010: Scarborough= Portland Pie

October 2010: Lewiston= DaVinci's

November 2010: Augusta= Red Robin

December 2010: Portland= Tortilla Flats

January 2011: Lewiston= Gridiron

February 2011: South Portland= SeaDog Brewery

March 2011: Auburn= Margarita's

April 2011: (Evergreen Anniversary Meet)

Now looking at the past 15 months, you will see that 15 divided by 3 EQUALLY would be 5. Unfortunately Augusta/ Waterville got shafted, considering they were only scheduled TWICE in 15 months, that's practically a year and a half!!!! The other two towns got 6 each. And then to "switch it up" we scheduled Brunswick.

I would LOVE to see more consistency, starting with an Augusta/ Waterville meet pronto! It's only fair.

An Admin popped into chat last month and said they had something big in the works for March in South Portland, while it would have been a piggy back South Portland meet (considering there was February South Portland)- it was not scheduled as stated.

yes, and I agree with the augusta and waterville meets

I would like to say that it was made known to the admins/mods that those of us north of Brunswick feel as though we haven't had many meets. This thread is meant to help come up with ideas to entice the planning of meets in Augusta/Waterville//Bangor because we do have a number of people in these areas that find it hard to make it to Auburn or Portland on a weekday. From what I have heard meets in areas closer to us have been the same place. If one was to look at the ideas I have pulled together from this thread it would be realized I included those that are even in southern maine. It would be nice to see more meets be the size of what I have been told the Evergreen Meet is.

I want you to know that I got this schedule together, not to gripe, but to show how passionate I am about these meets. Now, since things have changed in my life and I have not attended a meet since October, it doesn't mean I can't still hold them close to my heart. I think with this spelled out and color coordinated, maybe we can see where the scheduling calamities lie.

I think it is a great help. I am actually going to put this in the first post so those who view the thread are greeted with a history of the meets.

We can't please the far south, or the far north. We have tried to please everyone, and we will do more weekend meets which should help to please everyone.
