My car is running crappy.

I recently changed to a new front mount + cold air intake and got a turbosmart 50/50 bov. After I installed all this stuff my car idles like crap and occasionally stalls. I realize its most likely the bov but how bad is it to bend the fuel lines alittle to make room for the piping? I also have the nozzle pluged in for the meth but there is no line attached to it at the momment so im guessing that could be it too since its a small open hole. It also threw a p0171 yesterday. I just wanted everyones thoughts I realize im just rambling.

Im mainly concerned with the fuel lines. I want to make sure I didnt kill one of them by bending it. And I dont know if that code is related to the car running funky either cause it only happened once and it went away but the car still runs terrible.

Hows about you plug that hole in the intake. P0171 for a lean condition, which a hole in your intake would cause.

:violent4:

I went outside and played with the maf abit and it looks pretty dirty. Im thinking im going to get my old one back. It looked like it had alittle sand on it and i stuck my finger in the intake and it was alttle sandy as well how bad is it for alittle dirt or sand or whatever to get in there.

It might slightly port and polish your intake and possibly engine. :bom:

Actually, I don't know exactly .. but I know sand + engine usually is not a good sign.

The hole is really tiny and i plugged it with my finger for a minute or so and it didnt seem to make any difference how it ran.

I realize that sand is bad and everything but im trying to figure how badly im screwed with that in there. Its not a lot its just alittle dirty.

any small vac leak can make the car idle like raisin. plug up that hole. and reset the ecu and bet it will be gone. MAF cars don't like you messing with the air after they've metered it.

you've made so many changes to that car, who tf knows what's causing bad idle.

eliminate potential problems one at a time. making a change means you have to let ecu relearn after the change, you know how do do that, correct?

welcome to the "D" side of Research and Development. PPl often don't realize how much engineering work goes into modding cars, then making em run even partially as good as stock

Do you have anyway to log the car? I'm wondering if unmetered air, dirty MAF, and a bunch of other changes that the car isn't tune for hasn't caused a decent amount of knock and a large drop in IAM. This could push the car into a somewhat limp mode. I would plug the hole, clean the MAF, clean out the intake, and then reset the ecu and keep a close eye on things.

I replaced the maf with my old one and pluged the whole reset the ecu and its still doing it. Im thinking it has to be something to do with that bypass valve.

It seems to moi that a Tune is in order.

(When in doubt, let a Pro sort it out,is my motto.)

With a new FMIC,combined with a new CAI and then a MAF switch, (and re-switch) also combined with that meth-hole, well,if I did that, my car would probably, with my luck, send me a special, four-letter code.

Ah, Tuner Cars, the Joy, the Agony, the Tickets, and top speeds approaching a buck-eighty.

Who said it wasn't always a pleasure?

did you properly reset the ecu after plugging that hole?

i tune wont fix a broken or mis-installed part. i would complete the half-install that's been done and then see if any other repairs need to be done, then get it tuned if needed.

i have a FMIC, intake and atmospheric bov among other mods and it will still run just fine in stock mode on the utec, as well as up to the stage 3 map.

DO YOU STILL HAVE AN UPPIPE LEAK?are all your clamps tight one little vacuum or exhaust leak will f... your whole system :icon_scratch:

put on a stock bov and see what happens...

it's probably sprung too loose and you're losing air at idle, before there is enough manifold pressure to hold it shut.

or you can try to add spring pressure to the bov, but that will more than likely result in surge. bov's are a pain in the balls unless you switch to MAP tuning or a blowthru maf, which is a comprimise in itself.

So last night I tried the stock bpv ran and it ran the same ive also rulled out the maf. That hole has also been plugged. Jim came over last night and he thinks its the tuning because I switched from a spt intake to a aps cai. Im going to check all the intercooler pipes next just to make sure.
