Just standard run of the mill ones....but while i was skinning them the bad hand was all up in the seeds and center meat where all the capscasin is. I just rinsed it and went on cooking.
It's almost gone now as I approach the 24 hour mark! Wear gloves when you do that crap!
No joke Andy, same thing happened to me a long time ago when I was working at Tortilla Flats in Portland. I was a kid helping the head cook. He told me to grab the 1 gal bucket of jalapenos and peel the stems off them. The other guys were snickering, and I was happy to be not doing the dishes for a change. 2/3rds thru that can my hands were on fire! The other guys in the kitchen were laughing their asses off now. They knew I'd be burnin up. The head cook asked me why I didn't use the gloves hanging on the wall right by the Jalapenos.
My hands were bright red for hours. Continued to burn on into the next day.
Milk. Pour milk on your hands, beer, whipped cream, lotion. What cures your tongue from burning helps your hands also.
Its not the peppers themselves, its the juice they are sitting in. That liquid is fire water!
Well it's gone now, but yeah to my surprise (unpleasant surprise) they have enough in them to make you burn for about 24hrs. Hotter peppers i always wear gloves with...but the little harmless green guys got me this time!
