SEE POST #22 for dyno graph

I wonder if this would be worth it. I got the exhaust and CAI already, so the car could use a tune.

just know that if they have tuning available with the accessport.... then it can be had eventually for cheaper opensourse. someone will have maps eventually. and you can borrow a cable and flash it quickly.

$700 is a lot for a NA that you may only tune once. with turbo cars there can be multiple stages, and lots of tunes you can do over the life of the car when new parts get installed. but not really the same with a NA car. i dont see anyone flashing too many times.

Yeah I dont see the sense.

700 for a AP, + switch to 91 octane

1000 for heads-back exhaust

300 for intake and MAF upgrade.

injectors and pump

then you get into port and polishing, Xtrude Honing, boring cylinders and eventually you're at a brick wall where you can't get anymore and you've only got what equals a stage one WRX. Why not spend the 1700 to get the WRX in the first place and not have to worry so much about the brick wall and have infinite upgrading.

I'm not saying NA cars are bad. They are fun as heck. But going after more power is a huge hit to the wallet when there is a more practical way to get more power. Its called the WRX or LGT.

I agree 100%. I don't really see a point to building up an NA. For what you spend you can just go buy a wrx. If you have to spend money, buy tires/suspension goodies.

I wouldn't deny my NA car the opportunity if someone where just give me the AP for NA cars.

And sure as hell would be intersted in hearing about someone local doing it. Garret, you going to do it?

My only thought, after owning both a 2.0 WRX (02) and a 2.5 NA (01), is the HUGE difference in throttle response. The NA provides the power instantly and adjusts instantly, where there was just too much lag and not enough torque from the 2.0 until well into boost over 3k rpm. I'm sure the newer 2.5 turbo motors are much better though. And I certainly do understand the cost/performance argument. Just my thoughts.

I'm with rallyguy. (owned the same cars too:eek:) that is why my car has all the bells and whistles to drop a turbo motor in, but the previous owner figured buying a new STi was a better bargain than try to mess with the RS.

Im shooting a email to cobb now, to see what gains I should expect. If its decent enough then I might get it, and then we'll pass it around

. I already have plenty of suspension mods, it grips the road extremly well, now I would like more powah.

I could sell the OBS and get a WRX for more motor power, but I really really enjoy my car, I dont want to get a turbo car. More $$ for insurance, less mpgs, higher gas price, annoying ricers trying to race you( oh wait they they already do that : ) I will get a STI later in life, but for now, my rs does just fine. It is fun in the turns, sounds nice, and looks good. Now I just want a little more oomph, not for street racing, but for those backroads when I want to show my friends my AWESOME SUBARU POWAH!!!!!! or when I need to WOT a little.( for a morale boost) Not like the rs's are slow anyway though. Have you driven a stock neon? or focus? or any other companies base car?

Well the big thing is you can only make so much power out of a 4 cyl for a reasonable ammount of money with no forced induction. Theres no replacement for displacment (except a turbo).
