So I'm almost positive my turbo is shot. I'm looking for either a low mileage TD04 or a VF series... haven't yet decided what route I'm gonna take yet.
Shes burning oil. Dipstick was bone dry when I checked it a few days ago. I had to add about 3/4 qt. to get it to the full line. Blue smoke at WOT and unsteady boost. I also pulled off my intercooler yesterday and there was some significant sludge build up in the turbo to IC hose. Just a matter of time before this happened, especially with 122k on the turbo.
Ryan like I said pull your DP and see if there is oil pooled up in the housing of the turbo. Also, check to see if your turbine can connect to the housing of the turbo. If so she is gone.
This is for a brand new blouch 16g. blouch makes and carries some of the best turbos for the subie's money can buy. They stand behind there product to.
$650 for a brand new one. I know money is tight. But getting yours rebuilt or a new one will garentee you don't have to worry about getting ahold of someone elses problem.
Dude I would just send yours off to Blouch. They have about a 2 week turn around. You ship it out tomorrow you should have it back around next Thursday or so. They clean it up and everything. It will be around the same price you are going to have to shell out for a used one. But you get the piece of mind of having new parts in yours.
