Looking to see if anyone knows of someone that does rust repair for a decent price

My friend is looking to get his rear quarters done

he has been told by a local garage $300 a side without color matching

so no paint needed just looking for new metal going in.

This is his bad side

that price doesn't seem bad if it gets done right. there is a lot of work that goes in to a proper rust repair, especially if it goes through to the back side like that. i had @5 hours in a rocker on my blazer, @6 in the forester with similar rot to the picture shown. at $40hr+ it adds up quick

It's not too bad to do. I have done my fair share of those types of repairs. There is a body guy near me that does good work for cheap, but it's a long ways away from you.

I'd do that repair for 150 a side not color matched as well. I'm booked until after NEFR, but more money makes me do jobs faster.

rust repair blows! i tried to do some on the obs a few years ago and it bubbled up almost a week later. basically what I'm saying is don't have me help you

Thanks a lot Gabe! Ill try and dig up some pictures...if I wasn't in fort kent I'd offer to do it!

i offered to help him.  he said hes got a mig welder and we were thinkin about cutting a peice of metal a little bit bigger and id tac it on and then put a couple of beads on it from the inside.  if we do that where would be a good place to get metal that's similar to whats being used on the body?

I got a random sheet at home depot or lowes or whatever for like 30 bucks. Weld new metal to the outside layer but tuck it into the inside. Once that is on, hammer the inner metal against the newly welded in material and weld that on to close the gap into the unibody. Cut out all rust, level with bondo, and do 2 or 4 coats of chassis saver (POR15 but less crappy and cheaper)
