yes the 96-97 had cable probs and gauge probs. My first 97 gauge would scream for the first 10minutes of use if it was below 30 degrees. Needle wouldn't move until I smacked the dash wicked hard. chris, try the cable first, cuz its the cheaper of the two. Our current 97 speedo is floppy below 25mph then it smooths out above that.

I know it isn't the dash because it is jumpy on my scangauge2 as well.... but I don't like treadjacking.

THanks again guys, and yea ill come out on the roads sometime. I work in bangor most of the time tho. But im doin the body work soon and painting it. But i wana pull the motor for a rebuild and boost if i dont buy a wrx first. So lostinmaine whens the next time you guys will be out drivin the roads? Im always lookin for somethin to do when im not workin
