Nicest Car You've Ever Driven (not in a video game)

did you dig the free-wheel tranny? My dad had one of those when I was in grade school, it was the first car I ever went 90 mph in (he was driving)
Totally dug free wheelin trans. Had to not use free wheelin in my uncles v4 sonett cause power on off too quick would blow it. I also had a model 95 nicknamed "pickle" by h.s. Classmates.

Wife: her Lexus GX 470 (Doubles as NEFR Sweep1)

Father: His Lexus RX450 hybrid

Me: 74 911 targa, or 500hp Evo on summers in the snow, Touareg V10 Tdi, Merc E500 (google it) .

I like handling. I could care less about everything else.

On Pavement.......

Pedro's Miata (before all the upgrades, haven't tried it after)

Mini-S, and Mini,

Honda S-2000

Porsche 914

Off pavement...

(1) VW Golf III.

(2) Subaru Impreza

got to bomb around part of a summer in a Ferrari Mondial cabrio that my lawyer bro in law repo'ed from a client.

Even tho the Mondial isn't one of the best-regarded Ferraris, have to admit it was a pretty durn cool car, made all the right snarling V8 noises, drove incredibly well (powerslides on command) , rode pretty soft at same time, and yes indeed it WAS a genuine chick magnet. Not much more groovy set o wheels for stylin down Bay View Street in Camden on a hot summer night.

BUT BUT BUT there was always this overriding sense of impending mechanical doom...and yep stuff not workiing, w/ prospect of horrific parts costs. like $500 window switches, or $400 to replace a latch for the cabrio top (soo we just left top down all summer) and several grand for timing belts to stave off a $20k motor rebuild etc etc. Eventually Dave sold it to some sucka thru Uncle Henry's (like who da fark would buy a used Ferrari in Uncle Henry's??!!)

good car for Miami Vice wannabes, bad bad for normal Mainers.
