Ah, finally a discussion topic.
A question every vehicle buyer needs to ask themselves is what they are willing to sacrifice in exchange for value. Pedro mentions that it beats the hell out of a minivan because it's not only roomy, but cheap too! At nearly half the (starting) price of standard minivan it also has half the power and nearly 66% of the interior space. It is manufactured by a reliable car company, and offers 30mpg and seating for 5.
I have yet to see one in person, but I'd love to sit in it and see just how much room it offers. As a minivan-owner-to-be, I'm really starting to look at what my options will be in a few years and anxiously waiting for a good combination between style, performance and space. But the one thing I constantly look for is value. Nissan hit the mark with this vehicle when it comes to value. $14k base + options that allow for plenty of customization... they clearly know what people need most.
However, the progressive styling might just be too funky for me to settle on. Not knowing what the next 2 years will bring, design-wise - I will venture to guess that this styling might persist through Nissan's lineup. I'm not talking so much about the missing C-Pillar (which, let's face it... it's one of its most obvious features) I'm talking about the square-ish body with the rounded window corners, the large vault 5th door, and the droopy love handles that are the bumpers.
Still, in the end, $14k for a Nissan medium capacity vehicle with a good amount of cargo space, 30mpg and seating for 5 - this is on my list of vehicles to watch.
*However, the fact that it only comes in 6sp manual unless you upgrade to a $16.5k CVT package is somewhat frustrating, given my wife's inability to operate such a transmission.
