But they went alright. Once up to speed you dont have to let up for much of anything. Its a kart with a beetle/bus engine. The entire powerplant can be had from JC Whitney! My old one had twin Webbers. A big no-no amongst the Porsche crowd, but the Fuel Injection was crap at best, and at least I was driving it while others struggled to be reliable.

Porsche 914 with Subaru engine
so wait... are any of those yours?

I'm surprised they got the subaru engine in there. Although I guess I'm more surprised at the Chevy V8 one

.

It looks awkward having that long hosing from radiator to engine.

Really?

I've also seen Subaru swapped VW Buses. I'd love to have a WRX/STI swapped Beetle

. I met with a guy this summer who wanted to put a WRX engine in his custom VW buggy, but he didn't want to cut into the body (original from the 60s that his grandfather bought for the car, its a buggy body though, not the stock VW one).

4) 1983 Subaru GL 4wd. GONE.

My first Subaru... hi/lo 4wd, super light, super slow, but rugged as hell. Built a safari rack for it, cleaned it up drove it around. Sold it to Inski so I could move to Hawaii. Came back to Maine, bought it back from Inski to move my junk out to Utah. Died along the way and had to give it up... One of the top 5 saddest days of my life...

5) 1990 Range Rover County. Present.

Its a love/hate relationship. I fix it, something new breaks, repeat. But it's a monster off the pavement, and the ladies love it when you tell them you drive a Range Rover. It used to be shiney and pretty. But too bad I've bounced it off a tree, got it stuck in a swap (still haven't washed it), the powersteering is failing, a door handle is broken, and so on.

And yeah, once we called for a tow i took the cap off the distributer, and it was a mess... I couldn't get a new one till a week later, so I decided to cut my losses. I had no connections in the middle of nowhere Illinois and certainly didn't want to hang out there for a week...

On USMB. He had it for sale for a few weeks. I think it sold for somewhere around 850. I think I even posted a link here

Sorry to hear you had a Nova with a 262:(
Bah- that was a great car. Went like hell (or so it seemed at the time). Inski might remember it in the high school parking lot.

Cool list Lance!Got any pics of the Willys?
Here's an older picture, before I took it back apart again-

DSC_0025.jpg

It had the original Hurricane 4 under the hood, with all of 72 hp, and the original transmission/transfer case/axles, etc. I bought a new tub and reused the original grill and hood.

Now, the 3B has a Vortec 4.3 V6 from a 2003 Astro, an NV4500 5 speed from a '94 GMC 1/2 ton pickup, Land Cruiser axles and transfer case, and 4 wheel disk brakes. Also has the seats from my '94 SE-R and a 6 point rollcage. Hoping to get everything back together this winter.
