Hey guys I know the pics are king of ugh but its the best we could get of the valves with the header off. Does this look normal to you. Had a crust on the valves. We didn't find any valve guides leaking though.

So now what? Where is all the oil going? I am guessing mybe it must be a ringland then. Must be pretty bad by all the oil I am loosing.

Looks like it might be running a little hot

Edit- Scratch that has my computers brightness turned down it looked alittle white at first

The compression came out fine though when we did it. Which I have heard on the boxer engine is not always mean it good though.

nate's was drinking oil bad till he got his grimmspeed air/oil seperator. have you talked to him yet?

^^^^ I'm thinking I might need to get this too. I'm having a oil blow by issue myself.

I cleaned the pcv valve and got a air oil seporator (which grimmspeed is having a group buy for right now on nasioc) and my car almost completely stoped eating oil.

Yah. This is for sure what I might need to try. The grimmspeed piece is an awesome design. Changing out my intercooler to the new TMIC, I noticed I'm blowing a bit more oil then I think I should be.

OK new news guys.

When I pulled the PCV valve and cleaned her up I had some creamy substance from what I understand is normal from the cold weather and the condensation and everything. But, I also bulled the pipe off of the turbo that goes to my FMIC. There is an oil resdiue in the cold side of the turbo. I believe this might be from the blow by which would be another reason for a catch can.

Also, I called Evergreen and talked to them. They said my car doesn't have a PCV valve which is BS. It does. There is another post on www.iwsti.com about a guy going through the same thing with the dealership saying there wasn't one. Why doesn't it show up in there system as the STI having one? The wrx's have them.

just so you know... those exhaust ports look PERFECTLY normal... especially for someone boosted over stock (running a little rich to compensate). you should see what an audi 2.0t FSI looks like hahaha.... i wouldn't worry two seconds about it. if you notice oil consumption, try a catch can and see if it picks anything up.

yup those valves look fine. What oil do you use? my sti drank mobil 1 like a furnace. i switched to motul 300v (yeah its expensive but a new engine is more) and no longer use any oil. i hear Rotella is a great inexpensive oil. good luck

Yah Im drinking moblie 1 like water. I did run heavier weight rotella this past summer and liked it. But was a bit weary running the heavier weight heading into winter. I need to find something better that serves me all year around.

^^^ hmmm. that's interesting. I'm pretty sure I have a blow by issue, so its coming through my PCV. I may try the new Grimmspeed air oil separator. But it might be worth trying to change my oil first. Im not liking mobile 1 right now anyway. Mybe its worth just going down to regular oil where I change it every 2500 anyway.

if you want to try motul products come into woodys i can get 300v and gear 300 next day (sorry dont stock any motul) ill give you guys the "racer" discount. i just put gear 300 in my tranny and rear diff and could not be happier it shifts nice and smooth like.
