Can't find the fail thread, but this is from NASIOC about buying a car from Japan... This guy is cereal too.

One word: petrol.

I played this around in my head too for like random cars from the 22B to a simple Corolla (not the AE86, but just the listenings). I noticed most of the cars over there use petrol. Unless you can find one that was converted to use our gas or convert it yourself, it would be a tough call.

I didn't look around hard enough once I noticed the car-import site stated most of their cars were petrol. So, for all I know I am wrong and they are wrong. Just thought I would chime in.
